4 History Sarens Australia & Sarens Group First steps of Sarens Australia Creation of Sarens-Trans-Lift Pty Ltd in 2005, a joint venture between the Australian and Belgian heavy lift specialists with offices in the Newcastle area. Sarens Group with HO in Belgium sends the first Terex CC2800, a 600t capacity crawler crane to join the fleet consisting of a Liebherr LTM1800/LG1550 strutboom crane, a few crawlers, mobile cranes up to 250t and trailers. Over time, Sarens Group strengthens the Australian-Belgian JV with several Sumitomo 250 / 280 tons crawler cranes. With the main office in NSW the business grows quickly, mainly with jobs in the wind turbine industry. In 2006 Sarens takes the majority of the JV shares, creates Sarens Australia Pty Ltd and moves to QLD where cranes are operated under a dry hire contract by a local crane company. December 2009 is the official start of Sarens Australia Pty Ltd with a fleet of 9 large cranes and approximately 10 employees. The main activities are in the coal terminals, wind turbine erection and Oil & Gas projects and major infrastructure works. Another milestone is the acquisition of Perth Crane Hire in 2010 and the establishment of Sarens Australia Mobile Crane Division which leads to an expansion in WA with yards in Dampier and Henderson. In 2013 Sarens Australia achieved ISO9001:2008 and OHSAS18001:2007 certification with the support of its personnel. With the company motto Nothing too Heavy, Nothing too high, Sarens Australia took a place in the Australian market of Heavy Lift and Heavy Haulage with projects in Hay Point, Tom Price, Sydney, Port Hedland, Hunter Valley, Tasmania, Stradbroke Island, Wheatstone, Gorgon LNG and Gladstone LNG and has been continuously growing until today having 160 cranes and 120 employees active to create an average yearly revenue between 70 to 80 mio AUD. Sarens Australia is part of Sarens Group, one of the top 3 international active heavy lifting and special transport companies. See for more information.
