1 TWO DAY CONCEPT CLEARING TRAINING PROGRAM on Electrical Safety Audit (ESA) - Why, What, How & When

2 DATE : Thursday-Friday 7th - 8th June, 2018 ( hrs.) VENUE : Hotel Ellaa, Hyderabad Course Fee : INR 25,000/- excluding GST Speaker Profile: Course Content Introduction: Electrical safety is an important issue in industrial installations and requires adequate attention. Electrical safety is a welllegislated subject and the various Acts and Regulations enacted lay a lot of stress on the responsibility of both employers and employees in ensuring safe working conditions. Safety is the responsibility of everyone in the plant. More than 45 per cent of reported fire accidents are traced to electrical problems. It is also true that if no other evidence is forthcoming, the cause of fire is normally attributed to electrical short circuit. It is observed that in the industries and commercial complexes, barring a few cases, the safe operating practices are not strictly adhered to and at times they get diluted thereby leading to unsafe use of electricity because there is a dearth of competent electrical staff having complete knowledge of electrical hazard identification and its mitigation for the effective management of electrical risk. Electrical Safety Audit is a key to a successful electrical safety program as it identifies weaknesses in the safe use of electricity and provide a plan for corrective action, before an injury occurs. Electrical safety audit assists in identifying loop holes & non conformities in the plant electrical system and recommend ways and means to ensure electrical safety. Identified potential electrical hazards during the audit when instantly eliminated or reduced would ensure human and plant safety of human and plant equipment and building. The audit can be used to ensure that the plant and its O & M practices match the design intent and construction standards. A well conducted audit report will assist management in formulating Emergency Preparedness Plan. 2 DR. A.M. SALSINGIKAR Dr. A.M. Salsingikar is a product of IIT-Bombay.
