A complete job description is available through Stanislaus County Human Resources. The environmental factors, physical and functional demands for this Job Task Analysis were documented by Andersen & Baim Physical Therapy, Inc. The methodology for documentation consisted of on-site visits, using various measuring devices such as dynamometers and scales, as well as observation and interviews with employees and managers. A detailed record was made of the physical and functional demands of the job in terms of force pounds, weight, frequency, height, distance, anthropometric measurements, stamina, and degrees of range of motion. The determination of the frequencies of functional activities is based on standards provided by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Work Practice Guide for Manual Lifting (U.S. Department of Commerce, National Technical Information Service). The Job Task Analysis is organized as follows: General work description and specific duties; safety requirements; uniform/equipment; required job-related knowledge, education, ability, and experience; union; environmental factors; and physical/functional demands. 2 GENERAL WORK DESCRIPTION: Page 2 of 13 The frequency of the following activities may vary according to the physical requirements of the specific job tasks that the employee may be required to perform at random intervals. Under the general supervision of the department manager, the Administrative Clerk I performs a wide variety of increasingly responsible clerical duties and other related duties and required. The Administrative Clerk II performs a wide variety of typing and clerical tasks of average difficulty and other related duties and required. The Administrative Clerk III is highly skilled and works independently, performing the more complex and responsible clerical assignments. These duties reflect a greater degree of responsibility than those found in the journey-level class in the series. SPECIFIC DUTIES: Administrative Clerk I The Following Reflects Examples of Job Task Functions: /Marginal Task(s) Task 1: Maintains alphabetic and numeric files by filing and retrieving a variety of documents. Task 2: Searches files for specified information. Task 3: Monitors files for completeness and propriety. Task 4: Receives, segregates and routes mail. Task 5: May order, receive, log and distribute supplies and monitor inventory. Task 6: Compiles information and data necessary for the preparation of various departmental reports. Administrative Clerk II The Following Reflects Examples of Job Task Functions: /Marginal Task(s) Task 1: Performs a variety of typing and clerical tasks of average difficulty in accordance with established procedures. Task 2: Files and logs documents alphabetically and numerically. Task 3: Receives and routes mail. Task 4: May inventory, order, receive and distribute office supplies. Task 5: Compiles data and information necessary for the preparation of various department reports. Task 6: Maintains operational records by transferring data, calculating totals or compiling summaries. Administrative Clerk III The Following Reflects Examples of Job Task Functions: /Marginal Task(s) Task 1: Types reports, correspondence and standardized forms of a difficult and sensitive nature from written or recorded sources. Task 2: May compose routine correspondence. Task 3: May attend and take notes at meetings. Task 4: Makes appointments and travel arrangements as required. Task 5: Responds to inquiries and complaints from the public, clients or patients related to established practices and procedures. Task 6: Maintains sensitive files by making entries, checking information for propriety and compiling summaries. Safety Requirements: All employees are required to observe company safety procedures and standards to insure individual and collective safety, in addition to avoiding unnecessary risk to oneself, co-workers, customers, and property.

All employees within the Administrative Clerk I, II, III position are required to provide physical assistance for all weight and frequency requirement needs of all job tasks in order to maintain a safe work environment. Employees must be physically capable of working in any of the job tasks within the Administrative Clerk I, II, III position. Records management personnel may overhead reach and lift weighted items up to a frequent frequency. 7) OVERHEAD REACH: MAXIMUM FREQUENCY: Seldom Comments: Overhead reach is performed to a maximum height of 84 inches when retrieving, returning and storing, inventory (e.g. reach overhead for document, form, file, chart located on shelves). A ladder (appropriate height) or step stool may be utilized to bring items to eye or shoulder level. Variables to overhead reaching will be the employee s height and anthropometric reach Records management personnel may reach for items up to a frequent frequency.

8 Page 8 of 13 8) FORWARD REACH: MAXIMUM FREQUENCY: Frequent Comments: Forward reach is performed up to a distance of 28 inches when manipulating, handling, retrieving, returning, storing and/or transporting inventory and supplies (e.g. reach lateral or forward for desk top work; document, file; operate business machine, scan device; drive vehicle). The degree of elbow extension required for reaching will vary according to the employee s anthropometric reach. 9) STOOP: MAXIMUM FREQUENCY: Seldom Comments: Stooping is performed when retrieving, returning, storing and/or transporting inventory and supplies (e.g. stoop to reach below waist height for document, file, chart located on shelf, file drawer). Variable to stooping will be the employee's height. Stooping of the head, trunk and knees can be minimized or avoided by substituting alternate positions of squatting, kneeling or bending when performing job tasks. 10) SQUAT: (Unloaded) MAXIMUM FREQUENCY: Seldom Comments: Squatting is performed when retrieving, returning, storing and/or transporting inventory and supplies (e.g. squat to reach below waist height for document, file, chart located on shelf, file drawer). Squatting may be minimized or avoided by substituting alternate positions of bending or kneeling. Partial squatting is a preferred lifting posture. 11) FORWARD BEND: MAXIMUM FREQUENCY: Occasional Comments: Bending forward at the waist is performed when retrieving, returning, storing and/or transporting inventory and supplies (e.g. bend to reach near or far below waist height for document, file, chart located on shelf, file drawer; operate business machine). Maximum forward trunk flexion required is 60 degrees. Employee may minimize or avoid excessive forward bending of the trunk up to 80 degrees by using alternate positions of bending at the hips, kneeling, half kneeling, stooping, sitting or squatting. Records management personnel may stoop, squat or bend up to a frequent frequency. 12) TWIST: MAXIMUM FREQUENCY: Seldom Comments: Twisting at the waist is performed when retrieving, returning, storing and/or transporting inventory and supplies (e.g. twist to drive vehicle; reach for document, file, chart, located on shelf, file drawer). Twisting at the waist may be minimized by turning the whole body, including the feet and working from a swivel office chair. 13) TURN: MAXIMUM FREQUENCY: Seldom Comments: Turning is performed when retrieving, returning, storing and transporting inventory and supplies (e.g. turn to reach for document, file).

Kneeling may be minimized or avoided by substituting alternate positions of bending, squatting, or half kneeling. Walking length varies between 3 feet and 100+ feet depending on job task.
