Pallet Gate Product Information NOTICE Additional Information The Pallet Gate is designed to meet Federal OSHA requirements for standard railings. 1. PS DOORS recommends that the owner implement a regular maintenance program to inspect the Pallet Gate as necessary. 2. PS DOORS AND/OR ITS RESPECTIVE SUPPLIERS MAY MAKE IMPROVEMENTS AND/OR CHANGES IN THE PRODUCT(S) OR SERVICE(S) OFFERED AT ANY TIME WITHOUT NOTICE. 3. Retain this manual for future reference. I. General Information This manual contains information regarding installation, operation, and maintenance of the PS DOORS Pallet Gate all models. NOTICE This product is manufactured to specific guidelines. Unauthorized alteration in any way will result in voiding Factory Warranty, and may cause product to fail with potential serious consequences. Accordingly, you can expect any request for warranty repair to be charged to you, if it requires service after modification. Authorized modifications, received in writing from PS DOORS, as long as the modification is accomplished strictly in accordance with PS DOORS instructions, does not void warranty. To request product modifications contact PS DOORS. II. Operation Guidelines The following procedures and information are supplied for the operation of the Pallet Gate assemblies. Operation in a manner other than intended could result in damage or less than acceptable performance, for which the manufacturer will not be held responsible. 2

3 PS DOORS Pallet Gate III. Product Description The PS DOORS Pallet Gate is constructed in accordance with PS DOORS standard design, specification, and fabrication methods for Pallet Gates. The following components, in accordance with description provided, are included: A. Gate Tubing: Fabricated as a welded structural steel pallet gate. B. Finish: Finish on all exposed surfaces to be one (1) of the following: Powder Coat Safety Yellow or Stainless Steel. Refer to product proposal. C. Installation Hardware: Includes all hardware necessary for installation of one pallet safety gate. Anchors not provided by PS DOORS. D. Warranty: PS DOORS warrants this product and components to be free from manufacturing defects for a period of one (1) year from date of shipment. Ensure opening is clear of all obstructions through the entire travel of the gate during operation. B. Do not force components if they do not operate freely. C. Comply with all OSHA Safety Regulations and/or company safety policies when installing.. V. Operation Under Normal Conditions A. Move material through Pallet Gates and ensure gates are in closed position upon material being loaded/unloaded. Ensure all needed parts are included for assembly/installation. Refer to part list below. Installation NOTICE Before beginning any portion of the site preparation and installation of the Pallet Gate, read the entire Operations and Maintenance Manual and review all Installation Drawings thoroughly. A. Installation Steps Step 1. a.) Lay out pallet gate horizontally on the floor. Assemble the pallet gate as shown below. Make sure swing direction is correct. (See Illustration 1) IMPORTANT! The bumpers on the gate must be located on the side in which the material will be loaded from. b.) Determine the maximum height of the material being loaded through the pallet gate. Factory locations of 66 and 78 clear opening are provided. Field drill holes if alternate height is needed. Then install the cross bar as shown (img. X ) using the fasteners provided- (Hex bolt 3/8 16x2-3/4, washer 3/8, and Nylock nuts 3/8 16). IMPORTANT! Be sure the angle on the cross bar is on the same side of bumpers (See Illustration 2). The cross bar must be used in the installation. If it is determined the cross bar will not work in your application consult PS DOORS for recommendations. Illustration 1. Illustration 2. 4

5 Installing Pallet Gate Step 2. a.) Lift pallet gate assembly into a vertical position (See Illustration 3). Before anchoring, be sure the gate is plumb and square with a 5/8 gap between middle of gates for clearance. Attach the floor brackets of the vertical post assembly to the floor, as shown (See Illustration 4). Anchors are not provided (3/8 anchors recommended). IMPORTANT! Ensure that the floor bracket does not overlap the vertical face of the mounting surface. Illustration 3. Illustration 4. 5/8 Gap Step 3. a.) Attach vertical post plate to the predetermined holes in the column with provided fasteners (Hex bolt 3/8 16x2-3/4, washer 3/8, and Nylock nuts 3/8 16). The plate can be attached on either side of the column. Field attach the plate to the existing structure (shim as required). (See Illustration 5) IMPORTANT! The plate must be used in the installation. If it is determined the plate will not work in your application consult PS DOORS for recommendations. Illustration 5. 5

8 Inspection & Maintenance VII. Inspection and Maintenance IMPORTANT! Consult drawings before replacing fasteners, as most have specific design load requirements. A. Pallet Gate: 1. Inspect items for damage and misalignment. Adjust, repair, or replace as needed, to meet original design tolerances. 2. Check all mounting connections, making sure they meet original design standards (refer to original product drawings). 3. Inspect for corrosion of the Pallet Gate. Touch up as necessary. B. Fasteners and mechanical connections: 1. All fasteners must be in place and adjusted to their original design standards. Replace any damaged fasteners or connections. (refer to original product drawings). C. Component Maintenance: 1. Refer to specific component cut sheets/manuals. D. Finishes 1. Inspect and clean finishes periodically. 2. Touch up repair finishes, or refinish as necessary to protect the structural integrity of the product. E. Housekeeping 1. To ensure your product continues to operate and last, upon completion of installation, complete the following: a. Clean all surfaces. b. If project is ongoing, protect installed products until completion of project. c. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged components before Substantial Completion. 8

10 PS DOORS Limited Warranty Limited Warranty PS DOORS warrants this product and components to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from date of shipment. If within the term of this warranty, any Pallet Gate or component is found to be defective upon inspection by an authorized PS DOORS representative, PS DOORS will replace or repair, at PS DOORS discretion, any part found to be defective. Any field labor charges incurred are the sole responsibility of the customer. To make a claim under this warranty, contact PS DOORS at the address shown below. All other warranty s, express or implied including any warranty of merchantability, are expressly excluded. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of consequential or incidental damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. WARRANTY DOES NOT APPLY TO ANY DAMAGE OR DETERIORATION CAUSED BY MODIFICATION, ABUSE, APPLIED PAINT FAILURE OR FAILURE TO PROVIDE REASONABLE AND NECESSARY MAINTENANCE. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which vary, from state to state. Bumpers are considered a wear-item and are not covered under this warranty. 10
