2 TURNING THE UNIT ON TURNING THE UNIT OFF To turn the unit off, simply press nd hold the top utton for 1 seond until OFF ppers in the lower left-hnd window (). K Press the top utton one to turn unit on. The first sreen () will show you the totl distne sine purhse or the lst ttery hnge. At this point, relese the utton nd the unit will shut off (). *All dt in memory will e retined unless ttery is removed. After 4 Seonds, the Redy sreen () will pper. After 17 minutes of not tking strokes or pressing uttons the unit will AUTOATICALLY shut off. 5 6 UNIT SELECTION UNIT SELECTION (ont.) 3 STROKE ODE SELECTION STROKE ODE SELECTION To selet nd hnge the Stroke ode whih your unit will disply, press nd hold the lower utton. After 7 Seonds, the unit will sroll through the unit seletion nd egin srolling through eh ville Stroke ode. When your desired Stroke ode ppers in the lower left window, relese the utton. The srolling order is s follows: 2-Str = 8 Seond Hold / Relese 1-Str = 9 Seonds / Relese 0-Str = 10 Seonds / Relese Rowers using set swith () should use the 2-Stroke setting; Kykers using the pddle swith () should use the 1-Stroke setting; Cnoeists AND Rowers nd some Kykers* not using the optionl rte swith () should use the 0-Stroke setting. The will lulte stroke rte from the hnges in speed through the wter. *Kykers who mintin too onsistent of speed must use the pddle swith to otin stroke rte. ROWER (using set swith) KAYAKER (using pddle swith) CANOEIST or... (Rower or Kyker NOT using rte swith) 9 10 READY TO RUN PING THE R When the unit is displying the redy sreen, press the top utton to get out of mode. The inditor will now dispper (). One egun, the timer my e stopped t ny time. Press the top utton to stop the timer (). The inditor will pper in lower right window. 1 /2 One you egin to row or pddle, the unit will strt displying informtion (). 1 /2 * mode will puse the timer nd distne log, however, the Pe/Speed nd Stroke Rte will ontinue to updte. When redy to egin gin, press the top utton; the inditor will no longer e displyed. The timer nd distne log will now resume

4 SWITCHING BETWEEN SPEED & PACE RECALLING THE /500 AVG To swith the disply etween speed nd pe, hold the ottom utton for 2 Seonds. The top left window will hnge from /500 split () to, PH or Knotts speed (). Press the ottom utton to sroll etween elpsed time (), distne () nd verge split/pe () in the ottom left window. You n swith etween speed nd pe t ny time. To rell the memory hold down the top utton for 2 Seonds until recl ppers in the ottom left-hnd window (). At this point, relese the utton nd the first memory point will pper (). RECALL TOP LEFT - INTERVAL NUBER TOP RIGHT - AVG RATE OVER INTERVAL BOTTO LEFT - /DIST or AVG SPD Eh press of the top utton fter tht will llow you to sroll through the 25 stored memory points (), s well s point displying the overll verge. /500 /500 /500 DIST AVG 13 /... DIST K N ILE AVG 1 /2 14 RECALLING THE (ont.) RECALLING THE (ont.) One you hve rehed the 25th memory point, there will e one more piee of memory stored (). This point is tken when the row is ended, t whih time the overll verges nd distnes re shown. To exit ODE, hold top utton for two seonds (). When you see the sreen go lnk, relese the utton. You will then return to RUN ODE (). 5 RESETTING YOUR R To reset the timer, hold the top utton down for 3 Seonds then relese when you see reset in the lower left window (). The push utton inditor now ppers in the upper right window (). Press the lower utton to ler the memory (). The unit will utomtilly return to the redy sreen. CALIBRATION The is ftory lirted to provide urte performne in most shells with the impeller instlled 16 3 (5 m) from the ow. Clirtion is n optionl step whih llows the disply unit to ompenste for different impeller lotions, nd to perform urtely to your ot. You do not need to lirte your system if you re onerned only with ompring performne from dy to dy. To lirte your system, row or pddle over mesured distne on still wter (on flowing wter, row or pddle oth up nd down strem nd verge the results shown on your disply). Then, use the following formul to otin your new lirtion vlue: (OLD CAL VAL ALUE)(TRUE DISTANCE) = NEW CAL VAL ALUE DISPLAYED DISTANCE For exmple, if you know you overed 1 mile, ut your disply shows 0.92, your lirtion vlue will e: (1.00)(1.00) = PLEASE NOTE: Clirtion is ot nd impeller lotion-speifi: if you move your unit to new ot, or modify the lotion of your impeller, it is reommended tht you relirte the unit CALIBRATION (ont.) REPLACING THE BATTERY To hnge the lirtion numer, hold the ottom utton in for 3 Seonds until you see CAL in the lower left sreen (), then relese. Now you will see the numer with the first digit flshing (). Press the ottom utton to hnge this numer. Hold ottom utton for 1 seond to move etween digits (). Repet hold nd press to move through nd hnge ll pproprite digits (d). Hold to exit. d If the disply seems fint () then the ttery is proly low. To reple the ttery, open the ttery door with flt hed srew driver () ( oin will lso work). Remove ttery door nd reple the 3V Lithium CR2032 ttery with new one () nd reple door. To zero out the distne log, hold the top utton down for 10 seonds with the ttery out. Then reple ttery.* *If you hve lirted your unit, you will need to re-enter your djusted lirtion ftor fter removing the ttery

6 TROUBLESHOOTING Alwys try to orrow fellow rower s SPC so tht you n nrrow down the vriles. By testing your ot s doking set up with funtionl unit, nd hving your unit tested in funtionl doking set up, you n help determine where the prolem exists. ke sure the SPC you re using hs lirtion of nd is set on 2- Stroke ode. INITIAL CHECKLIST: If funtionl unit will not work in your ot, then the prolem most likely exists with your wiring nd/or doking hrness Chek to mke sure there re no uts, niks or pinhed res long the wire. ( flshlight will e helpful here). 2. Be sure tht oth sensors re ligned orretly (see Instlltion). 3. Be sure tht there is no deris or orrosion on the impeller. 4. Chek tht the metl ontts on the mounting dok re flush with the surfe of the dok, (ontts my e lened with non rsive lenser, like Bon- Ami, to ensure true surfe). DO NOT use solvents on the doking sttion, it my use dmge & voids wrrnty. 21 PROBLE 1: SPEED OR PACE READINGS ARE INACCURATE TROUBLESHOOT 1: IS THE CALIBRATION VALUE SET CORRECTLY? The lirtion vlue should e set t unless you hve ompleted the neessry steps to re-lirte your unit. The hek nd/or reset your lirtion vlue see CALIBRATION pges TROUBLESHOOT 2: IS THE IPELLER PROPERLY INSTALLED? The impeller is to e pled 5m from the ow of the ot (see INSTALLATION pg7). If for ny reson you nnot ple the impeller in the proper lotion, the unit will provide inorret informtion unless relirted (see ove). TROUBLESHOOT 3: DOES THE IPELLER SPIN FREELY? If the impeller egins to umulte ny deris or slight orrosion, it my not spin freely whih will led to inury. If you re unle to ler the deris, new impeller n e purhsed. If impeller is still overed y the 1-yer wrrnty, the ustomer n return the fulty impeller for replement. The impeller my e unsrewed nd reled without removl of the hull mount. Note: Any slight hum reted y the impeller should fde within week or so. 22 PROBLE 2: NO STROKE RATE OR RATE SEES INCORRECT. TROUBLESHOOT 1: IS UNIT AKING CONTACT WITH BRACKET? The unit must hve ler ontt with ontt pins on mounting rket. Push unit into mounting rket until lik is herd. Be sure lnyrd is not interfering with the onnetion. TROUBLESHOOT 2: IS THE AGNET AND SENSOR ALIGNED? Doule hek the set-up nd orienttion of the set mgnet nd lk sensor (see pges 3-6). TROUBLESHOOT 3: IF RATE SEES HIGH, CHECK STROKE ODE. If your stroke rte onsistently seems very high, lmost doule wht it should e, the unit my e in single stroke mode (1-Str). ke sure unit is set in doule stroke mode (2-Str) or pproprite setting for pplition (see pges 16-17). TROUBLESHOOT 3: IS THE UNIT IN ODE? If there is no rte, time or distne displying mke sure the unit is not in mode. If so, hold top utton for 2 seonds to exit. If timer is only displying rte nd split ut no time or distne, the unit is in mode. Press top utton one to exit mode. 23 ROWING ELECTRONICS WARRANTY & SERVICE does not elieve in "disposle eletronis."
