2 Logistics Park Kansas City is located in the Southwest Johnson County Kansas community of Edgerton which is approximately 30 minutes from downtown Kansas City, Mo. While the population of Edgerton is approximately 1,600 people, Johnson County is a major employment engine in the southern part of the Kansas City metro area. With more than 550,000 residents, Johnson County Kansas is the second largest county in the Kansas City metro and a great place to find quality employees. Logistics Park Kansas City is expected to generate 13,000 jobs during the next 10 to 20 years. 3 The Johnson County Labor Force Johnson County Kansas s economy has experienced unparalleled growth and diversification for more than two decades and presently ranks as one of the nation s most dynamic metro-centers. Johnson County enables the State of Kansas and the Kansas City metropolitan area to successfully compete with the nation s other premier business locations in the pursuit of international investment. The largest county in the state of Kansas, between 2001 and 2011, Johnson County s population grew by 87,933 persons (18.9%) to a total of 552,991. In 2011, the Johnson County economy provided 32% of the full- and part-time employment in the Kansas City metro and 23% of the total in the State of Kansas. There were 879,042 workers, 67.1% of the Kansas City laborshed s total, living in Johnson County and the seven counties that touch its borders. During the year, the average unemployment rate for Johnson County and the seven counties that touch its borders was 6.6%.
