2 BECOMING A LICENSEE WHAT DOES MEAN? The Licensee Programme is designed to help grow your business and develop a close working relationship with Trutex. It maintains your freedom to run your own business, with the added support of a brand that has a wealth of knowledge and experience. When you become a Trutex Licensee, you are able to use the Trutex name and logo trademarks, as well as the strap line Schoolwear and More for your business. Trutex will become the name of the store and the brand can be used on all your marketing literature, stationary and website. There are now over 40 Trutex Licensees across the UK, all benefiting from the Trutex brand association and its attributes of quality and value.

THE TRUTEX BRAND Because Trutex is the only recognised consumer brand in the independent schoolwear market, by becoming a Licensee, it will give your business further credibility and provide confidence to potential new and existing schools, as well as to parents. So, the more business you place with Trutex, the greater your margins.

The content of these can be adapted to highlight the specific benefits of buying through your store. This could be, for example, that you sell products all year round, give expert advice, or that you also sell club uniforms such as brownies and guides. You would only need to cover the cost of the marketing literature production. Our entire image bank is available to our Licensees free of charge, so our images can be used within your website, bespoke marketing literature or point of sale graphics. NEW MARKETING TECHNIQUES We constantly investigate new ways to help grow our Licensees businesses. In 2010, we introduced a voucher scheme that keeps business returning to stores after back to school for repeat purchases. In 2011, we are introducing a Loyalty and Savings card scheme through a number of Licensees to investigate if introducing such a scheme delivers a suitable return on investment. MARKETING ADVICE The Trutex Marketing Department has an abundance of experience within the sector, which they are happy to share whenever required. Often Licensees will be approached by third party suppliers who are looking for the Licensee to advertise through various media channels. The team is always available to provide advice, sound out ideas, and even assist with the creation of advertisements.

7 SHARE & GAIN IDEAS & EXPERIENCE With over 40 Licences across the UK, we are building up a strong community, with whom you can share ideas and gain advice. Each year the Licensees come together at our annual conference, held at Trutex head office, and there is always plenty of time to meet fellow Licensees. This has led to many communicating at regular intervals throughout the year as everyone helps each other to grow their business. SAVINGS THROUGH ECONOMIES OF SCALE We are constantly looking at ways that our Licensees can save money through group purchasing. Due to the growing number of Licensees we are in a much stronger position to negotiate lower supplier prices than individual stores. A great example of this is our high quality carrier bags, which we keep in stock all year round: As we order in bulk, it keeps the costs much lower than if individual customers purchased the bags themselves.

BUILDING OF RELATIONSHIPS The Licensee Programme allows us to work closely with our customers and build long-term relationships, which stabilises our business and helps us maintain our position at the forefront of the schoolwear market. FEEDBACK Working closely with our Licensee s means there is constant communication, and whilst we are always looking to provide assistance wherever possible, it does mean we also get a consistent stream of market data. Our Licensees deal with the consumers on a daily basis, so we get to find out about changing market trends for example, which helps us develop our product range. BRAND EXPOSURE Trutex have produced fine clothing for generations since 1865, and the business has built up an unrivalled brand reputation. This is something we are very proud of and would like to continue. Giving the brand exposure through retail stores and working closely with retailers that provide an exceptional level of service, further enhances our brand.

9 HOW DO I BECOME A TRUTEX LICENSEE? There is no annual fee for joining the Trutex Licensee programme, but there are certain criteria you must fulfil in order to become a Trutex Licensee. These are that you: Demonstrate your commitment to the Trutex brand Sign a contract that details the way you are able to use the Trutex brand and work within the Licensee programme Have the Trutex brand as part of the stores external signage Reach an agreed amount of annual spend Have the ability to illustrate you are a financially sound business and demonstrate a solid track record for good business practice If you feel you and your business can achieve these criteria, and you would like to further explore the benefits of becoming a Trutex Licensee, we would very much like to hear from you...
