1 Space Educatin Quality Mark Careers Vides Invitatin t Tender Summary ESERO-UK is seeking prpsals frm individuals/cmpanies with the necessary experience t film, edit and package a series f career vides t be used in classrm sessins. We are lking fr creative and inspiratinal ways t prmte careers within the UK space sectr using real peple and real stries t mtivate students and teachers t investigate careers within the sectr. Tenders shuld be submitted by nn n Wednesday 30 th May Backgrund The Eurpean Space Educatin Resurce Office in the UK (ESERO-UK), was established in 2009, and is funded by the Eurpean Space Agency (ESA) and the United Kingdm Space Agency (UKSA) and supprted by the Science Technlgy Facilities Cuncil. The ffice wrks with educatinal prviders, gvernment, emplyers, charitable trusts and space specialists frm acrss the United Kingdm t use space t mtivate and inspire yung peple t increase their literacy, attainment and prgressin in Science, Technlgy, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects. Wrking alngside STEM Learning, ESERO-UK is able t prvide influence, funding and services t imprve the teaching f STEM subjects in schls and clleges, and inspire yung peple thrugh engagement and enrichment activities. As part f its prtfli f activities, ESERO-UK manages the Space Educatin Quality Mark (SEQM). The SEQM is an award given t UK primary and secndary schls, and clleges that have shwn significant use f the cntext f space in teaching, have wrked with ther rganisatins, shared resurces and used space t enrich the curriculum. ESERO-UK is currently in the prcess f update the SEQM s as t better supprt schls which take part in the mark. As part f this prcess, a number f individuals have ffered t be space sectr rle mdels t engage with students and t share their experience f wrking in the space sectr.

2 ESERO-UK s Visin T supprt the space sectr by helping teachers pen drs fr yung peple frm all backgrunds, by delivering inspiring wrld-class teaching in science, technlgy, engineering and mathematics (STEM). We will achieve this thrugh supprting teachers in engaging and inspiring their pupils with the aim that mre will pt t study STEM subjects pst-16 and enter STEM careers. ESERO-UK s key pririties are that: Yung peple frm all backgrunds have the aspiratin, knwledge and skills t thrive, with mre prgressing int space-related careers. Emplyers can gain access t knwledgeable, talented peple with strng STEM skills, increasing prductivity, cmpetitiveness and diversity. Teachers f STEM subjects cntinually develp their STEM knwledge and experience, maximising their impact. Families and cmmunities recgnise the value f the space sectr fr sciety, and encurage and supprt yung peple in space-related studies and careers. Purpse f the Wrk In additin t supprting teachers t use space t mtivate and inspire yung peple t increase their interest and prgressin in STEM, ESERO-UK aims t raise the awareness f teachers and yung peple t the range f careers available in the space sectr and its impact n everyday life. Despite being the third natin in space and having a UK sectr wrth 13.7bn, many teachers and yung peple are nt aware f the sectr and as a cnsequence the ptential careers available t yung peple in the UK. With this in mind, we want t develp a suite f career vides t help extend knwledge f pprtunities available in the space sectr. Each vide will feature a shrt interview with a space sectr rle mdel. T hear abut inspiratinal individuals experiences wrking in the UK space sectr will be a pwerful tl t inspire yung peple, frm all backgrunds, t get invlved in the sectr. The vides will be used by ESERO-UK and thers including STEM Learning as part f ur supprt fr teachers t prmte the SEQM in ways including: Natinal events including cnferences and career events. Lcal events and netwrking meetings. On a lp in the Natinal STEM Learning Centre t prmte t visiting teachers.

3 Used by Science Learning Partnerships t influence schls t engage with the Space Educatin Quality Mark. Hsted n the & website t be accessed by teachers and yuth grup leaders. Seventeen vides, f tw t three minutes duratin each, will frm the suite. Each vide will fcus n ne f the rle mdels The aim f each vide is t: Prmte and raise awareness f the careers in the space sectr. Explain what the individual des and hw their wrk affects the space sectr and the wider cmmunity. Inspire and encurage yung peple t cnsider a career in the space sectr. Each vide will cmprise: Area i. Intrductin t the career area/wrk Frmat Narratin ver: Images/vide f rle mdel at wrk Relevant stck ftage ii. Hw did the rle mdel get here iii. Rle mdels hpe fr future f their area inc. impact n wider cmmunity Narratin detailing persnal experience Shrt interview t be filmed and edited as apprpriate Narratin ver: Relevant stck ftage Unique narratin, images and vide ftage fr each rle mdel. iv. End sequence Narratin f challenge set by rle mdel leading t a primary and secndary versin f each vide All filming will take place with rganisatins and in lcatins determined in discussins between ESERO-UK, the cntract hlder and the rle mdels. Filming will be lcated in either an emplyer s premises r anther neutral venue. The lcatins f the rle mdels can be shared with interested

4 rganisatins n request. Filming will be f individuals wh are space sectr rle mdels wh have already been asked by ESERO-UK t participate. An utline f each vide can be develped in advance, but the specific shts may be decided n the day f filming in negtiatin with the ESERO-UK representative. A flexible apprach is welcmed. Dates f filming are flexible but dependent n availability f the rle mdels. We estimate that between days f filming n lcatin will be required. Fr reference, the lcatins f the rle mdels are: Bristl Cardiff Harwell Leeds Leicester Lndn Nrth Yrkshire Prtsmuth Stevenage Swindn Nte that there will als be a lcatin in Sctland and Nrthern Ireland. ESERO-UK has access t an extensive cllectin f existing images and vides frm the Eurpean Space Agency which cntain ftage which is suitable t frm part f this new suite f vides. Filming will therefre primarily invlve capturing new ftage f emplyers and interviews with rle mdels. Edited vides shuld be available ne week prir t the deadline t allw fr review and amendment t the edit. Principles fr quality f vide: Talking heads interviews must have excellent audi and visual clarity. The prmtinal vide must be excellent quality. Used as a marketing device it must represent the prfessinalism and high standard f the prgrammes prvided by ESERO-UK and STEM Learning. The vide must catch the audience s attentin and cnvey the inspiratinal nature f wrking in the space sectr.

5 Music is expected t be included (csts fr ryalty-free music shuld be included in the qute). Adherence t STEM Learning s branding guidelines. Intellectual Prperty Rights All intellectual prperty arising frm any wrk package will be vested in STEM Learning thrugh ESERO-UK. Deliverables The deliverables required f the successful bidder will be: Activity Preview f ftage at the end f each shting day (rushes). Edited vide t be sent fr review and amendments ne week prir t the deadline specified in the table belw. Web-ready edited vide in MP4 frmat secnd teaser/click bait t enable ESERO-UK t prmte each vide via scial media. Fr vides with music, an additinal vide in MP4 frmat withut the music track. All raw vide ftage and prject files n a USB 3.0 external hard drive (videgrapher t supply). Milestne Open, cmpetitive ITT issued 17 th May 2018 Tenders submitted 12 nn Wednesday 30 th May 2018 Successful bidder annunced and cmmencement f wrk w/c 11 th June 2018 Filming starts w/c 25 th June 2018 Cmpletin f all deliverables 31 st August 2018 Csting and pricing Prpsals shuld include details f the csts prpsed t deliver this cntract, based upn a ttal cntract sum. If day rates are used fr editing csts, an estimate f editing time shuld be included.

6 This fee shuld be quted exclusive f VAT and will be payable upn receipt f the final, edited webready MP4 vide and raw files. Expenses must be included in the ttal price. Decisins will be based n perceived value fr mney, rather than the lwest cst prpsal, and the ther award criteria (see Sectin 12). Tender prcess Tenders shuld shw, as a minimum: Full CV f the individual(s) undertaking the wrk. Examples f previus similar wrk cmpleted, r examples f areas f expertise relevant t the cntract as detailed. A wrk plan shwing key dates/milestnes and deliverables. What yu require frm ESERO-UK t prepare fr the vides. A breakdwn f csts. Submissin and frmat f prpsals The deadline fr receipt f submissins is nn n Wednesday 30 th May Late submissins will nt be accepted. All submissins will be acknwledged with a ntificatin f receipt. An electrnic cpy f the prpsal shuld be received in PDF frmat by this deadline. This is an electrnic nly submissin prcess; therefre all dcumentatin must be submitted in PDF frmat as a single zipped flder if the size f the submissin is greater than 10Mb. Links may be included in the PDF dcument t relevant examples f previus wrk. Prpsals shuld be n lnger than 4 sides f A4 (excluding CVs f peple invlved) and typed in Arial size 12 fnt. If the prpsal exceeds this limit evaluatrs will be advised t disregard any infrmatin utside the limit. Prpsals shuld be ed t: a.brwn@stem.rg.uk marked SEQM Career Vides. A decisin will be made as sn as pssible after receiving the tenders, with a face-t-face clarificatin meeting if needed.
