1 Vendor Information Vision: The Main Street Market at the Boneyard is the largest gallery for fine antiques, arts, crafts, and collectibles in Emanuel County. Located on historic US Highway 80 in Downtown Swainsboro, the Main Street Market is committed to being the region s finest full service emporium of fine arts, crafts, and antiques. The Main Street Market displays a diverse inventory of quality merchandise in its 12,000 square foot center in the heart of downtown Swainsboro. In addition to serving as a retail outlet, this downtown location also hosts auctions, exhibitions, and community events that contribute to the Main Street Market s appeal as a must see attraction in Emanuel County. Mission: The Main Street Market s mission is to promote culture and commerce in Emanuel County by offering a venue of excellence for antiques and collectibles and marketing the region s strengths as a center for cultural programming and exhibitions. The market is committed to promoting and representing its vendors; selling their work to its dedicated clientele of local and regional patrons. Programs: The Main Street Market at the Boneyard will encompass vending space for arts, crafts, and antiques dealers; a food service area; monthly antique and general merchandise auctions; and a public-use space to be available for rent for community events.

2 Booth Rental: Vending spaces with the dimensions of 10 x 10 will be available on a first come-first served basis to arts, crafts, and antiques dealers who wish to exhibit and sell their merchandise at the market. A monthly rental fee of $100 will be charged for each 10 x 10 space. For the first 12-months of the Main Street Market s operation, rental fees will follow a graduated schedule (below). Sept. 1, 2010 Feb. 28, 2011 March 1, 2011 Aug. 31, 2011 Sept. 1, 2011 & After $50 per month $75 per month $100 per month A refundable security deposit of $100 will be expected at the time of application, with the first month s rent due on the first day of the merchant s first month vending at the Main Street Market at the Boneyard. For each subsequent month that the merchant rents a booth, the rental fees will be due by the fifth day of the month. Charter merchants of the Main Street Market at the Boneyard will be allowed to begin setting up their booths beginning in August 2010, with the first month s (September) rent due by September 5, Charter merchants will not be charged rent for the month of August Larger spaces may be available on a limited basis. To inquire about a space larger than 10 x 10, please contact the Main Street Market Manager. The Main Street Market reserves the right to discount merchandise, up to 50%, in booths whose rent is in arrears for three (3) or more months. Said merchandise may be sold by the Main Street Market to cover past-due rent, and may not otherwise be removed from the Main Street Market at the Boneyard until all rent debts are paid in full. Booths may only be stocked during normal market hours. Cancellation of Booth Rental: Vendors must complete and submit to the Market Manager a Notice of Discontinuation form 30 days in advance of vacating their space. Forms will be available from the manager.

3 Sales: All sales must go through the Main Street Market register. Vendors may negotiate prices with customers in their booths, but sales must be paid through the market s register. The sale of any merchandise in the market that does not go through the market s register may serve as grounds for termination of space rental. Merchants are responsible for paying their own sales tax. A monthly sales report including merchandise sold, proceeds gained, and sales tax due will be provided to vendors. Gross sale proceeds, minus a 10% commission fee, will be available for pick-up or mailing on the fifth day of each following month. Reproductions must be labeled as being such. Insurance: Vendors acknowledge that the Main Street Market does not insure merchandise. Vendors will be responsible for insuring their own inventory. The Main Street Market at the Boneyard will not be held responsible for damage to or loss of any merchandise, property, or equipment either from natural or unnatural causes, such as theft, fire, flood, wind, rain, or any other cause. The Main Street Market will take all reasonable precautions against shoplifting; however, vendors acknowledge that all shoplifting can not be prevented. Merchants are encouraged to lock small, valuable items in a security case. Vendors will be responsible for providing their own security cases, as the Main Street Market will not provide security cases. Booth Rental Termination: The Downtown Development Authority and the Main Street Market reserve the right to terminate booth rental of any vendor who does not abide by the policies and procedures set forth in this manual. Vendors who display generally unacceptable items will be asked, in writing, by the Main Street Market Manager, to remove said items from his/her booth. Vendors, who continuously display such items after three (3) warnings, may have their booth rental terminated. Terminations will be issued, in writing, by the Main

4 Street Market Manager, by the 25 th day of the month, to take affect on the first day of the following month. Hours of Operation: 10:30 a.m. 6:30 p.m., Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m., Saturday Market may be open extended hours for downtown festivals and events Marketing/Advertising: The Main Street Market is committed to promoting its antique, arts, and crafts vendors throughout the Southeast and beyond. We believe that representing each vendor s merchandise is a partnership between the Main Street Market and its vendors, so we ask that our vendors work with us to best showcase their merchandise and the Main Street Market at the Boneyard. The Main Street Market at the Boneyard may use inventory items for promotional purposes unless vendor notes objection to this clause upon application. The Main Street Market at the Boneyard will advertise in local and regional media, including newspapers, magazines, and radio stations. Additional publicity will be garnered through and mailing list contact with customers, business cards that will be provided for each vendor, and a market Web site. Main Street Market marketing and advertising plans will be reviewed annually. For a more detailed marketing plan, please contact the Main Street Market Manager. Tax Monies: Vendors will be provided a 1099 form by the first day of February each year. Merchants are responsible for paying their own sales tax. A monthly sales report including merchandise sold, proceeds gained, and sales tax due will be provided to vendors. Responsibilities of Main Street Market Vendors: Responsibilities of Main Street Market vendors include maintaining clean and neatly arranged booths, clearly pricing and marking merchandise, and providing the Main Street Market Manager with a current inventory of all merchandise displayed in their booths. Merchandise displayed for sale shall

5 be of high quality, and qualify as fine art, craft, or antique, at the discretion of the Main Street Market Manager. A list of generally acceptable and unacceptable items is attached. Vendors are asked to rotate 20% of their inventory every 60 days. Vendors should supply all reasonable display devices unless prior arrangements have been made with the Main Street Market Manager. Vendors are also responsible for set-up of their space and breaking down their space at the end of their lease with any reasonable repairs to damage of their space. Any construction to a merchant s booth will be the responsibility of the merchant. Plans for displays must be submitted to the Main Street Market Manager for approval. Vendors are asked to leave their booths clean and free of damage. Booths requiring substantial cleaning or repair upon vacancy may result in loss of security deposit. Merchants will be provided with inventory sheets and barcodes. It will be the merchants responsibility to list all merchandise for sale in their booths on the inventory sheets and to mark the merchandise with the appropriate barcode (provided by the Main Street Market). Main Street Market staff should be notified two days in advance if any items are to be removed from display. A notice of 30 days is asked for vendors who choose to cancel their vendor agreement with the Main Street Market at the Boneyard. Vendors are asked to include a personal statement about their merchandise at their station to help educate customers about said merchandise. Vendors are also asked to offer any pertinent information to staff about their merchandise. Vendors located along the perimeter of the market will have electricity available in their designated space; however, merchants located in the center spaces will not have access to electricity. Electricity consumption will be limited to normal display use. Code of Merchant Conduct: Vendors shall abide at all times by the codes, ordinances and regulations of the appropriate city, county, state and other governmental agencies having jurisdiction over the conduct of the vendor's business.

6 Merchants are asked to conduct themselves in the highest manner, refraining from the use of profanity or any suggestive gestures that may offend, or otherwise make any other vendors or patrons feel uncomfortable. Discrimination or harassment based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin or any other protected class will not be tolerated under any circumstance.
