1 SOLID WASTE / CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS CONTRACTOR ABOUT US Lcated in suthwestern BC, the Squamish-Lillet Reginal District (SLRD) is a lcal gvernment federatin cnsisting f 4 member municipalities (Squamish, Whistler, Pembertn, Lillet) and 4 electral areas. The regin cntains sme f the mst spectacular frests, waterways, and muntains in the prvince and affrds an endless range f pprtunities fr utdr adventure. Headquartered in Pembertn, which is the apprximate gegraphic centre f the regin, the SLRD delivers a wide range f reginal, sub-reginal and lcal services t apprximately 38,000 residents. THE OPPORTUNITY This full-time (average 36 hurs per week), ne-year term cntract psitin is a cmbinatin f tw part-time psitins. There is the ptential t split the psitin int tw part-time cntracts, depending n the results f the recruitment prcess and the preference f the preferred candidate. The successful candidate will spend abut 60% f his r her time wrking with the SLRD Envirnmental and Utilities Technician t crdinate with member municipalities and First Natins gvernments t advance the gals f the SLRD Slid Waste and Resurce Management Cmmunicatins Plan and t develp, deliver, evaluate and reprt n an rganics diversin campaign t the regin. He r she will spend the remainder f his r her time (abut 40%) wrking with the Cmmunicatins & Grants Crdinatr t assist with the planning, develpment and delivery f a range f internal and external crprate cmmunicatins activities, prjects and initiatives. Duties include, but are nt limited t: strategic cmmunicatins planning and implementatin, digital cmmunicatins (internet and scial media utreach), media relatins, cmmunity relatins and engagement, cmmunity based scial marketing (slid waste rle), and crdinating the prductin f advertising, infrmatin and prmtinal material. ABOUT YOU The ideal candidate will have: A pst-secndary educatin in cmmunicatins, marketing, public relatins, envirnmental science r a related discipline as well as tw r mre years f relevant experience, r an equivalent cmbinatin f educatin and experience. Digital cmmunicatins educatin and / r experience including wrking with web-based cntent management systems (Drupal 7 preferred) and scial media tls. Experience in develping public educatin and / r utreach prgrams t fster behaviural change, including cmmunity-based scial marketing strategies. Graphic arts / design experience is an asset. Lcal gvernment experience is an asset.

The Slid Waste Cmmunicatins Cntractr psitin has a strng prject management and cmmunity relatins fcus and serves as a key resurce fr member municipalities, reginal First Natins, the media, ther reginal stakehlders, SLRD crprate cmmunicatins and the public regarding the implementatin f the SWM Cmmunicatins Plan. 4 reginal First Natins gvernments t advance the gals f the SLRD SWP Cmmunicatins Plan. Duties include but are nt limited t: Wrking with ther Cmmunicatin and SWM persnnel within the SLRD and member municipalities t develp cnsistent Slid Waste messaging and signage thrughut the SLRD; Crdinating the develpment, design, preparatin and delivery f a variety f printed and electrnic material t encurage behavir change, cnsistent with nn-slrd material thrughut the SLRD; Crdinating media relatins, including preparing media materials such as news releases, advisries, infrmatin bulletins, backgrunders, fact sheets, etc.; crdinating media events and interviews; preparing briefing ntes; cnducting media mnitring; and liaising with the media and rganizatinal spkespeple as apprpriate and required; Crdinating digital cmmunicatins, including develping engaging web cntent and crss-sharing between web and varius scial medial tls; maintaining the Garbage, Waste & Recycling web pages n the SLRD website; maintaining, curating cntent and mnitring the SLRD waste reductin Facebk page, as well as any ther scial marketing mediums dedicated t diversinary prgrams/tactics; and mnitring web and scial media analytics and reprting n results; Crdinating cmmunity relatins and engagement, including rganizing and facilitating meetings; develping and delivering presentatins; creating infrmatin displays, pamphlets, and ther cllateral; and evaluating and reprting n campaign effectiveness; Keeping up t date n relevant legislatin and stewardship changes within BC and Canada and crdinating with stewardship agencies n cnsistent cmmunicatin (e.g. Recycling Cuncil f BC, Mixed Materials BC); Keeping up t date n similar campaigns frm within BC, Canada and internatinally that culd enhance cmmunicatins and drive behavir change within the SLRD; Crdinating with the Waste Reductin Educatr t align schl prgrams with the strategy; Wrking with ther Cmmunicatin and SWMP persnnel t develp, deliver, evaluate and reprt n an Organics Diversin Campaign Pilt and Regin-wide Prgram; Develping, delivering, evaluating and reprting n seasn-specific cmmunity engagement campaigns (such as the Hallween pumpkin drp) within the Organics diversin campaign; Wrking with ther Cmmunicatin and SWMP persnnel t develp a plan t expand the Organics Diversin prgram int cmmercial and / r multi-family sectrs in 2016; Wrking with ther Cmmunicatin and SWMP persnnel t develp a campaign strategy fr Other cmmunicatins-related prjects as required. 5 Crprate Cmmunicatins Cntractr Wrking with the SLRD Cmmunicatins Crdinatr, the Cmmunicatins Cntractr will liaise with all SLRD departments t create, crdinate, deliver and evaluate a range f cmmunicatins and marketing activities. Duties include but are nt limited t: Assisting in the develpment and implementatin f crprate, departmental and / r prject cmmunicatins plans, ensuring cnsistent messaging and crprate image acrss all rganizatinal cmmunicatin; Crdinating a cnsistent apprach t branding acrss all SLRD departments; Prviding digital cmmunicatins supprt, including develping and / r crdinating engaging web cntent and crss-sharing between web and varius scial media tls; maintaining nline Bylaw, Plicy, Reprt, Staff, Directr and Cmmunity Organizatin directries; and mnitring web and scial media analytics and reprting n results; Assisting with media relatins, including preparatin f media materials such as news releases, advisries, infrmatin bulletins, backgrunders, fact sheets; crdinating media events and interviews; preparing briefing ntes; cnducting media mnitring; and liaising with the media and rganizatinal spkespeple as apprpriate and required; Assisting with cmmunity relatins and engagement, including crdinating meetings; develping presentatins; creating infrmatin displays, pamphlets, and ther cllateral; and evaluating and reprting n campaign effectiveness Crdinating the develpment, design, preparatin and delivery f a variety f printed and electrnic infrmatin and prmtinal materials including: print advertising, flat sheets, brchures, psters, newsletters, etc. and evaluating and reprting n campaign effectiveness; Cnducting and analysing research t ensure a gd understanding f relevant reginal issues and trends as well as citizen and stakehlder cmmunicatins preferences; Other cmmunicatins-related prjects as required. The Cmmunicatins Cntractr may als be required t assist with the fllwing: Researching, crdinating and preparing grant applicatins and related materials; Emergency cmmunicatins as required. Minimum Qualificatins The successful applicant will be mature, prfessinal and will pssess: Exceptinal ral, written and interpersnal cmmunicatin skills, including the ability t identify key messages and distill cmplex infrmatin int cncise and effective cmmunicatin prducts; Excellent research, rganizatinal, prject management and analytical skills with a keen eye fr detail; Strng cmputer skills (MS Office including Wrd, Excel, PwerPint, Outlk); Sund understanding f the principles, practices and techniques relating t cmmunicatins prgram design, develpment, implementatin and mnitring; Jb Descriptin Cmmunicatins Cntractr Page 3

6 Gd technical abilities including demnstrated experience with web-based cmmunicatins and scial media applicatins; Current knwledge related t web, scial media, scial marketing, lcal gvernment, waste reductin and cmmunicatins trends; An understanding f public participatin prcesses and sme experience with varius traditinal and emerging utreach and engagement activities; A high degree f self-mtivatin, an interest in taking initiative and the ability t wrk independently with limited supervisin; An aptitude fr wrking cllabratively as part f a team; The ability t wrk under pressure in a fast-paced envirnment, meet deadlines and manage prjects while adapting t shifting rganizatinal pririties; The ability t use tact, diplmacy, judgement and discretin t cmmunicate effectively and maintain psitive wrking relatinships with a wide variety f internal and external cntacts, gvernment fficials, the media, stakehlder grups and the general public; and Cmmitment t high standards f custmer service.
