Stratford Circus Arts Centre is a vibrant place to create and experience art through exceptional theatre, dance, music and circus and visual exhibitions and we present work for families, young people and adults. We support national, international and east London artists to create new work that is relevant to local people, connecting artists and audiences to help them find authentic voices. Our education programme works with schools and community organisations to introduce local people to artistic experiences through workshops and bespoke creative learning projects. We are proud to be a founding partner of the East London Cultural Education Alliance, delivering outstanding creative opportunities for children and young people across East London. Our modern and versatile building receives more than 125,000 visits a year and is a key resource for the local community. We regularly hire out space to artists, schools and local groups as well as corporate clients and promoters. Stratford Circus Arts Centre is a National Portfolio Organisation of Arts Council England and a registered charity. Any profits we make go directly back into our work. We create high-quality, mixed art-form artistic programmes linking Stratford Circus Arts Centre both to its immediate communities and to other creative organisations, regionally, nationally and internationally. We develop creative and cultural skills through direct engagement with young people and communities, enabling wider access, progression and career development. We engage with professional arts organisations and individual artists leading to the development of creative programmes and festivals, the incubation of new artistic work, and the professional development of individuals. 2 HEAD OF MARKETING Reference number: 1703 Contract: Part time, 4 days a week, permanent Reporting to: Director Responsible for: Marketing Officer and Interns Salary range: 35,000 ( 28,000 pro rata) 32 hours per week (including breaks: evening and weekend working as necessary) Holiday entitlement: 23 days per annum (18.4 pro rata), increasing by 1 day for each complete year(pro rata) up to a maximum of 30 days(24 days pro rata), plus bank holidays. Please submit your application to jobs@stratford-circus.com by the due date specified. PURPOSE OF POSITION The Head of Marketing is a vital part of the Stratford Circus Arts Centre team. The postholder overseas the promotion of our wide range of artistic and community activity, building audiences. They are responsible for raising our public profile as a dynamic arts centre and a leader in the field; creating positive social change through the arts. The primary focus will be on the artistic programme for adults and families alongside visiting companies, creative access projects and venue hires. Alongside maximising income and raising the profile of the organisation, the post will ensure audiences are developed and maintained in line with the organisation s audience development strategy. MAIN DUTIES To devise monitor and evaluate marketing strategies for all of the organisation s activities, effectively contributing to the achievement of financial, outreach and artistic objectives Oversee the running of the marketing team, line manage the Marketing Officer, marketing placements and internships, supporting their professional development to maximise their contribution to the work of the organisation CAMPAIGNS To lead the planning, strategy and delivery of effective and creative marketing campaigns for all Stratford Circus Arts Centre s artistic and commercial activities, including working with visiting companies to maximise ticket sales Oversee the production of printed and digital campaign materials, working with external design and creative agencies, web developers and printers To plan and implement an ongoing quantitative and qualitative audience research programme and monitoring of customer feedback Work with events team to plan and promote the hire of the building to existing and new clients 2

3 Maintain the Stratford Circus Arts Centre brand, ensuring appropriate and consistent guidelines are maintained both internally and externally DIGITAL AND AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT With the programming team, to develop and review audience development strategies, building the necessary networks and relationships to target new audiences (schools, families, students etc,) within Newham and the wider catchment area Work with the programming and finance departments to develop a pricing strategy to meet organisational objectives Contribute to the continued development of the organisation s digital strategy, identifying new ways to use digital technology to bring the SCAC mission to a wider audience Oversee all digital communication channels and manage the Marketing Officer in maintaining and developing the website, e-newsletters, social media and video content and social media profiles ensuring it compliments print, press and social media campaigns PR AND PROFILE With the Director, develop and manage Stratford Circus Arts Centre's institutional marketing strategy, supporting the organisation s broader profile raising ambitions in line with business plan objectives To manage press enquiries and work with east London press and incoming production companies to create PR opportunities Manage press enquiries and work with external PR agencies to maximise Stratford Circus Arts Centre s profile in local and national press Work with the Director to support public relations strategies through managing press nights/events as required, creating press releases and content for stakeholder newsletters etc. BOX OFFICE AND CRM Overseeing CRM strategy, ensuring good practice, coordinating training with the FOH team and maximising SCAC s investment in Spektrix, using it effectively for marketing, fundraising and audience development Ensuring compliance with General Data Protection Regulation legislation Maintaining procedures for effective data sharing with partner organisations to support shared audience development and reporting goals Using the box office system to interrogate transactional and demographic data, identifying audience trends and the evaluating the effectiveness of campaign and audience development strategies and evaluate ROI on marketing spend PARTNERSHIPS To work with the local authority, London Borough of Newham, to support the implementation and promotion of joint community initiatives To represent SCAC and contribute to consortia-based activity with Stratford Original (local Business Improvement District), Future Arts Centres, Black Theatre Live, Circulate and other partner organisations Led by the Director, work with the Development Manager on individual giving, corporate sponsorship and other campaigns to maximise fundraising 3

4 FINANCE Plan, manage and monitor the approved marketing budgets ensuring that expenditure is kept within agreed limits, liaising with the Finance Manager Keep suppliers and marketing activity under review to ensure maximum return on investment OTHER TASKS To work to Stratford Arts Trust policies and procedures including Single Equalities and Safeguarding Children To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be requested This job description outlines the types of work involved in this role.
