His wrk uses the tls f experimental psychlgy and behaviral ecnmics t better understand the chices that cnsumers make. Prfessr Murray's research has been published in leading jurnals in marketing, management infrmatin systems and rganizatinal behavir and has authred tw bks, The Retail Value Prpsitin and CB. His research has applicatins in shpper marketing, custmer lyalty, electrnic retailing, and pricing. Dr. Murray has cnsulted in these areas fr clients including the Cmpetitin Bureau f Canada, General Mtrs, Industry Canada, Jhnsn and Jhnsn, Leger, The Research Intelligence Grup, LyaltyOne, and Micrsft. Emily Salsbury is the Acting Executive Directr f the Schl f Retailing and has ver 14 years f experience wrking with retailers and shpping centres. Her innvative strategies and unique apprach have prpelled start- ups int millin dllar ventures. Her passin fr custmer service and staff retentin, have ignited sme f the mst creative and engaging retail envirnments. She brings an understanding f buying behavir and trend frecasting that helps clients make infrmed business decisins and manage risk. 3 ABOUT The Schl f Retailing is a centre within the Alberta Schl f Business at the University f Alberta. The centre is entirely funded by the retail industry thrugh partnership, dnatins and events. The Schl f Retailing was established in 2006 t prvide glbal leadership and educatin and is ne f nly tw Universities in Canada t ffer a Bachelr f Cmmerce with a majr in Retailing & Services. Building n the strength f the prgrams ffered by the Alberta Schl f Business, we have develped a curriculum that balances a strng fundatin in the fundamentals f cmmerce with retail- specific training and an integrated prgram f real- wrd experience thrugh a variety f industry partnerships. 4 RETAILING Our Curriculum: PROGRAM Practical and Current The Schl f Retailing curriculum will fcus n a balance between theretical and practical learning in areas that will prvide students with the skills t succeed in their careers. Students cmplete the cre f the business schl prgram, retailing and services specific curses, learn frm retail business leaders wh will participate as guest lecturers thrughut each term, and access a c- p prgram and internships. Graduates will be eligible fr a Majr in Retailing and Services, r fr a Minr fr graduates majring in areas such as Accunting, Finance r Marketing. Chsing the Schl f Retailing majr in Retailing and Services prvides yu with the academic fundamentals fr a career in ne f the mst dynamic and fast- paced industries. The majr in retailing and services includes an ptinal summer internship within a spnsring rganizatin, while als cnducting a prject under academic supervisin. Career Ptential Graduates are well psitined fr successful careers in peratinal and managerial psitins. Entry- level psitins fr graduates f the prgram are expected t include assistant buyers and stre managers fr larger stre peratins, and in the peratins, public relatins, and prmtins areas. Graduates are als well placed t initiate franchise r entrepreneurial ventures in the retailing and services sectr.

OCTOBER: RETAIL WEEK OCTOBER: RETAILING AWARDS This is the largest Retail Week in the cuntry with ver 60 retailers cnverging n campus fr a week f infrmatin sessins, speed, netwrking, and mre. This is the leading student retail- recruiting event in Canada. NOVEMBER: STORE TOURS AND SPEAKERS The Schl f Retailing plans turs and wrks with partners t have speakers n campus. Past turs have included Nrdstrm and West Edmntn Mall, as well as speakers frm ur varius partners. bra The Schl f Retailing Awards is an annual event that supprts the achievements f the retail industry in a spectacular intimate celebratin f retail leaders. This sld ut event hsts an executive audience and is ur key netwrking event fr students and industry prfessinals. Each year varius partners will turnver based n their needs and resurces and therefre we currently have 4 spaces pen fr WHY IS THERE A PARTNERSHIP? The Schl f Retailing des nt receive funding frm the University f Alberta. It is entirely funded by retail partnerships, cnsulting, dnatins, and events. HOW LONG IS THE PARTNERSHIP? The partnership term is ne year and can start any mnth f the year. January is the best time t begin the partnership in rder t take advantage and guarantee attendance at all events. HOW DO WE KNOW IF THE PARTNERSHIP WORKS FOR US? The partnership is an pen cnversatin. We have set events and dates where we have activities and events t participate in, hwever the partnership allws yu t d whatever yu wuld like n campus with ur resurces and students. HOW CAN WE ENSURE SUCCESS? It is imprtant t keep in mind that having a presence n campus is what creative success. If yu dn t have team members wh can be n campus at events, speaking in classes, and mre, yu will find the relatinship challenging. HOW DO I KNOW IF WE ARE A GOOD FIT?
