Walt Disney credits his time growing up in Marceline, MO, located 10 miles from the LCL s office in Brookfield, for inspiring his creativity. This inspiration can be seen in Disneyland, where Disney patterned Main Street USA after the Main Street in Marceline. The Walt Disney Hometown Museum draws thousands of tourists to Marceline each year. The Bell Game has been played between Brookfield and Marceline High School since the 1930 s. This rivalry won USA Today s Best High School Rivalry Contest by a landslide in its first year. The Bell Game is played for a fire truck bell that came off of a Brookfield Fire Truck, and draws between 3,000-5,000 football fans and alumni home each year.
