Research For solving the problem I ran three user interviews on men and women ages In these interviews I asked the questions to collect their feedback on their business travel experiences. Luckily I came up with lots of information to extract from their answers in order to think of a solution for my initial problem statement.

Empathize / Post User Interviews Jonard La Rosa Product Designer at Airbnb 1. Checks for the best price. 2. Often travels for business. 3. Economy flight are good enough for him, he appreciate flights. 4. Usually stays at Airbnb, but used to stay at hostiles.

Jonard La Rosa 5. Takes him a long time researching for better prices. He searched through Google flights, Hopper, Expedia Pretty much stays at the same place when travels. 7. Likes privacy for accommodations. Airbnb is more convenient for him because it is residential.

Empathize / Post User Interviews Moria Paz Manager at Amour 1. She relies on travel agent. 2. Price is not an issue to her. 3. Most of her flights are for business. 4. Accommodation is more a concern when travel with family (elderly and kids). When travel by herself or with a friend they are more flexible.

Moria Paz 5. Airbnb is good. Stays close to the meeting conventions. She does not recommend hostiles for families. It is ok for individuals. 6. She searches through Google, hotel.com or Expedia Depending on the circumstances she changes her accommodations. 8. She wishes for better feature to make travel simpler as well as translator feature.

Empathize / Post User Interviews Fred Roberts Business Professional 1. He searches through google flights and some other travel websites for the best rates. 2. Frequently travel for business. 3. Shop around until he finds the best rate. 4. He likes quite and clean places that are also close to his meetings.

Fred Roberts 5. Most of the time it is hard to find all their information and offerings they have on the websites. 6. He wishes that there were more details on cancelation and refunds. 7. There are way too many options to choose from and that makes it more confusing. He wishes for one simple website or app that covers all the important criteria to save time. 8. For business trips he does not take too long to book but for personal trips he shops around which takes much longer.

Refining My Findings What are people trying to do? What are their goals People are trying to find the best price, a simpler way to book flights and accommodation instead of jumping from one website to another, clear cancellation and refund policies, confirmation about finalization of their booking, translations for other languages.

What do I think is motivating them? The time they spend in shopping for airline tickets and accommodations is essential in their search. It takes them longer time to find all those features.

Define the Problem not the Solution Last minute business travelers cannot book their flights quickly enough due to many features on the travel websites.

Users Dream List Primary Goal: To find the cheapest price in a short period of time! - Search Domestic Flights - Search International Flights - Choose a specific Airline - Choose any Airline - Use Customer s Reviews - Find the closest Accommodations - Find the closest Restaurants - Pay by Credit Card - Pay by Google Pay - Pay by Apple Pay - Use App in English - Use App in Other Language - Get Booking Confirmation - Cancellation and Refund Policy

Feature Prioritization 1- Listing the best travel rates as packages of flight and hotel for user s desired destination will save user s time for searching those two features separately. 2- Listing only the necessary features like Internet availability, Parking, Food services for the hotels on each item listed will help user to decide faster and save time. 3- Avoiding a lot of unnecessary features and links will save users from getting lost in the app and wasting time. 4- Having a clear term and policy of cancellation and refund will save users time as well.

Sitemap Content The Biz Trips App will include: 1- Flight + Hotel Packages Price Descriptions (one way or round trip, Economy or business, number of passenger, date, time, # of stops, protection 2- Refund policy 3- Option to create an account To get reward points Viewing booked Travels 4- Checking out / Payment and Confirmation plan, Airline, etc...) Description of the hotel and its available features.

Storyboard After figuring out the problem, I came up with a solution and made a storyboard for the prototype.

User flow

Persona Dan Project Manager Age: 32, Single Dan is a busy project manager. He travels most of the time for business either with co-workers or alone. Frustrations: It takes him too long to find the best price/rate for flight/ hotel due to too many features listed on the travel websites. He can t find the details like cancellation, refund, and confirmation easily. Goal: Find best rates fast. See only necessary details clearly listed. Not too much unnecessary information that gets the users lost. I know some people have struggles in flying, but I appreciate flights. I like to fly, I am a short man 5.5 so I never have a problem in economy seating.

Problem the users are facing: Users cannot find best deal online tickets quickly enough when it comes to booking their business trips due to many features listed on the travel websites.

Card Sorting: Before Before and After After

Research Highlights Observation: What I heard from the user was somehow what I expected but in two or three areas the user was confused so I have to fix those pain points. Insights: I learned from my observation that I need to make all the screens clear with appropriate information for the specific need. Design Recommendations: The design is clear and to the point according to the user test but needs some additions. Moving Forward: Yes, for the checkout part the user recommended that if he is already a member or sings up then all his information like name and address and phone and should show at the check out screen without asking him to enter those again.

Usability Test Discussion Guide Introduction: My name is Palwasha Safi and the purpose of today s test is to observe if my design fits the user s goals. I will be mostly observing with minimum interjections during the test which will happen occasionally only if needed. Observation: Can you please tell me about booking your flights for business trips? What do you enjoy the most about booking online? Anything you enjoy the least? Tasks: Imagine you are leaving for a business trip in two days. Walk me through how you would book your trip? See if you don t need an accommodation how would you plan your trip? Show me if you go with a group of coworkers and are assigned to book the trip how would you do that?

Screens for usability tests:

Usability test reflection The main pain points and highlights I found were the fillable sections that were not clickable which made all three users lost and confused. After observing the users tests I found out to revise the prototype and make all the fillable clickable to the next screens with place holders so the flow of the booking a ticket will be smooth and simple. v I will make all the fillable areas clickable linking to the next screen with some place holders. v I would also link the home page to the previous page in case someone go to home screen accidentally he/she should be able to go back to the screen they were on. v I would also make a clickable each item listed on the flights or flight + hotel screens not only on the select button so the user will easily go to the next step.
