2 T H E S U M M I T C E N T E R A U T I S M W A L K The Summit Center Autism Walk is the largest autism awareness event in Buffalo, NY. The Walk is truly a community effort, raising more than $2 million since its inception. Each year, more than 3,500 people walk to fundraise for The Summit Center, celebrate successes, and raise awareness - including representatives from large corporations and local companies. Walkers raise funds by asking friends, relatives and co-workers to sponsor them for participating. WHY SHOULD YOU PARTNER WITH SUMMIT? You can give families hope by making a difference: Autism affects every 1 in 68 children in the United States. There is no known cause or cure for autism, but with treatment, children can make strides and continually improve. Summit serves more than 2,700 individuals within the eight counties of Western New York. 91 cents on every dollar raised by The Summit Center Autism Walk directly benefits individuals and families served by Summit. Participating in The Summit Center Autism Walk makes good business sense: Corporate teams build team spirit and camaraderie-they provide a great opportunity for employees to work together on a non-work project. Corporate team t-shirts send the message to the community that your company cares. It also gives you high visibility while providing a good incentive to participate. Your presence at the Walk provides you with the opportunity to send a positive corporate image to the community while engaging your employees in a healthy activity. For more than 40 years, The Summit Center has given hope to Western New York families affected by autism and developmental, social, and behavioral challenges.
