2 1:00 pm 2:00 pm CONCURRENT SESSION: Texas Showdown Title, Odometer, and Sales Tax Fraud. What s happened in Texas and what s being done to combat it? In this session, Texas DMV Investigator Robert Foster will present on a one of a kind title fraud case that encompassed many state and local criminal justice agencies working together to successfully combat fraud. CONCURRENT SESSION: Tech Talk DMVs across the Southeast do not have to solely rely on paid services to perform mission-critical tasks with the help of 21 st century technology. In this session, learn what the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles and Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles are doing to expand their technological footprint in their state while making business processes easier and more efficient for their employees. During this session, DMVs and public safety agencies in Region 2 will discuss emerging transportation trends they re charged with regulating. Hear from the Mississippi Department of Public Safety on platooning from both an implementation, regulatory, and technological perspective, and from a Texas lawmaker who introduced e-scooter legislation during this year s legislative session. AAMVA will also provide an update on its transportation trends white paper. CONCURRENT SESSION: Law Enforcement/Fraud Initiatives A trifecta of topics will be presented by leading criminal justice professionals on the latest trends and enforcement actions in the areas of impaired driving, import and export motor vehicle fraud, and driver license and identification fraud stemming from state-to-state investigations. Large scale natural disasters and the impact they have on citizens and the agencies that support them is never too far from the mind for Region 2 administrators. Conflict Resolution is defined as a systematic approach for resolving disagreements between two or more parties. This session will focus on the characteristics and elements of conflict along with de-escalation techniques to resolve personal conflict on, and off, the job. 9:30 am 9:45 am Transition Break 9:45 am 10:45 am CONCURRENT SESSION: Reducing Suspended Drivers and Alternative Reinstatement Best Practices Across North America, at any given time, approximately 7% of all drivers are suspended. Receive an update on the November 2018 Best Practices document for Reducing Suspended Drivers and Alternative Reinstatement by the AAMVA Suspended Driver Alternative Reinstatement Working Group. Additionally, a panel will discuss the impacts of suspending driving privileges for non-highway safety reasons and best practices for addressing the results. CONCURRENT SESSION: E-Title vs ELT, E-Odometer, and E-Signatures What s the difference between e-titling and ELT? Join this session to find out. Learn how jurisdictions are moving forward with an electronic title process, including use of electronic signatures in odometer disclosures. 10:45 am 11:00 am Transition Break 11:00 am 12:00 pm CONCURRENT SESSION: Big Data Raises Big Questions: Solutions to Safeguard Your Agency & Customers Big Data has become the buzzword in most every modern-day industry. This pod-session will focus on three data topics that include data management privacy, data processing contracts and data retention regarding agency social media platforms. Consumer privacy is a growing concern as government agencies harness the power of big data. Join us as we learn best practices to best manage our data while safeguarding the privacy of our customers. CONCURRENT SESSION: New Driver Assistance Technology Is it the responsibility of the dealership, manufacturer, DMV, or diving school to make sure drivers are educated on the equipped technology in their newly purchased vehicle? During this session, learn from both the public and private-sector perspectives about the tech that comes standard on almost all vehicles now and how to test a driver s aptitude for using these features. Hear how one DMV is changing the way it tests drivers with all of this in mind. CONCURRENT SESSION: Law Enforcement Roundtable Hear an update on the activities of the Law Enforcement Standing Committee followed by lively discussions of emerging trends and hot topics among law enforcement members in Region 2. What trends they are seeing that may impact DMVs? How do they suggest DMVs prepare to stay ahead of the needs? What are their strategies for servicing the DMV customers of tomorrow? 5 2:45 pm 3:45 pm CONCURRENT SESSION: Partnership With the Courts Come speak with your fellow jurisdictions on how they manage their relationships with the courts. This lively discussion will include the electronic processing of convictions and citations to improve efficiency and reduce erroneous reporting, as well as examining best practices for improving outreach, support, and communication with the courts. CONCURRENT SESSION: License Plates Explore many issues related to license plates, including plate design, approval and denial of personalized plates, and the emergence of electronic license plates. 3:45 pm 4:00 pm Refreshment Break 4:00 pm 5:00 pm GENERAL SESSION: Decreasing Customer Pain through Alternative Methods of Service Have you ever wanted to ask Alexa or Siri to reduce the lines in your offices? With increased federal requirements and population growth, offices are experiencing increased demand for services and longer processing times.
