Essay #1 draws on Governance Value Analysis to explain theoretically how variations in contract specificity impact manufacturer`s value claimed. Essay #2 examines value claiming over time, drawing on Prisonner`s Dilemma. Overall, the research provides insight for marketing academics as well as marketing managers on how manufacturers should govern the introduction of new products through major retailers.
