1 Dear Member Applicant, Thank you for your interest in joining the Canadian Gift Association (CanGift)! CanGift is the primary community of suppliers who sell wholesale goods to Canada s diverse retail gift, tableware, household and fashion accessories industry. Membership opportunities are available to manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, importers and exporters who meet the product criteria established by the CanGift Board of Directors. Please note: Companies whose primary business functions are retail or are service based are not eligible for membership in CanGift. We are pleased to introduce you, a fellow supplier to this industry, to our programs and services. Simply stated, our services are designed to help members Know More, Sell More and Spend Less. The Toronto Gift Fair, held twice annually, is Canada s largest trade fair and the gift and home industry s premier trade event. With over 1.1 million square feet of exhibition space, the Toronto Gift Fair is the storefront of the industry and its most important order taking and marketing communications platform. Low booth fees and high quality and quantity buyer attendance combine to make CanGift Fairs the most cost effective selling venues anywhere. Companies interested in becoming an exhibiting member at the Toronto Gift Fair, can refer to the enclosed reference: Membership and the Toronto Gift Fair Fact Sheet. Please note: membership is not mandatory if you are only interested in exhibiting at the Alberta Gift Fair. Concerned about costs? Member booth, advertising and mailing list charges are well below market rates, while all of the association s informational services are made available to members, free-of-charge. Members also benefit from a wide range of preferred supplier programs and group discounts that significantly reduce business expenses. In fact, a CanGift membership can be self-financing, as the money saved by participating in one or more of these programs can easily cover the cost of annual membership fees. Success in our industry demands better knowledge, higher sales and lower costs. A CanGift membership addresses all three. However, our true value lies in members doing together what they couldn t possibly do by themselves, apart. The Process: Completed applications are reviewed and approved monthly. If you wish to be considered for exhibition at the 2018 Fall Toronto Gift Fair (August 12 15, 2018) apply for Gold Membership by July 3, If you are not ready to exhibit, but would like to have your name on the priority list for the 2019 Spring Toronto Gift Fair (January 27-31, 2019) or a future show, apply for Silver Membership. If you are only interested in accessing the many money saving programs and industry publications that CanGift offers, please contact us directly. Applications must be accompanied by a properly imprinted business cheque, for the correct amount, including the appropriate sales tax, made payable to the Canadian Gift Association. The name on the business cheque must match the Corporate Name and/or the Registered Trade Name listed on the submitted application. Completed applications are subject to review and the approval of the CanGift Board of Directors. Note: Applications will only be presented to the CanGift Board of Directors when fully completed.

2 The CanGift Membership year runs from November 1 to October 31. The Gold Membership fee includes the $ Silver to Gold upgrade fee. The initiation fee and the upgrade fee are NOT pro-rated. 3 Membership and the Toronto Gift Fair Fact Sheet If you are interested in becoming an exhibiting Gold Member at the Toronto Gift Fair, the following steps need to be taken. 1. Complete and return the enclosed membership application indicating that you are applying for Gold Membership. If you plan to exhibit in the Toronto Gift Fair in the future, but NOT at the next edition, please indicate Silver Member in the space provided on the application form. 2. Your application will be reviewed to ensure that it is complete and meets the current criteria as established by the CanGift Board of Directors. Only applications that are complete and meet current criteria will be reviewed. 3. Completed applications will be reviewed on a monthly basis. Once approved, your company will be contacted by the Membership Department. Please note: The invitation to become a member and to exhibit at the Toronto Gift Fair is extended at the discretion of the CanGift Board of Directors. While we can t guarantee that every applicant will be offered the opportunity to become a Gold Member and exhibit at the Toronto Gift Fair, staff will be pleased to assist you with the application process. 4. Our call to you will outline the terms of membership and the process of booth allocations for the Toronto Gift Fair. If you wish to accept our offer of membership, a document Confirmation of Gold or Silver Membership, will be forwarded. Your signature and return of this document indicates your acceptance of the terms and conditions of membership in CanGift. Once the documentation is received, your member record will be established and your cheque will be deposited. Your CanGift membership will begin on the first business day of the month following the board meeting at which your application was reviewed and accepted. Please note: if your membership acceptance is not received by the date indicated by CanGift, the start of your membership will be delayed. 5. Once your membership has begun, your company will be eligible to benefit from the many programs and services available to members. These programs and benefits are highlighted in the Members section of the CanGift website. Here you can access receive key contact information for the various departments within CanGift and our CanGift Official Benefit Suppliers. When you are approved for membership you will automatically be contacted by the Toronto Gift Fair team to discuss opportunities to exhibit at the upcoming show. Please note that booth allocations are determined by member seniority and availability. One of the following two scenarios will likely apply: Example 1: If you are a Silver Member and accept the space offered, you will be required to upgrade your Silver Membership to Gold Membership. You will be required to sign a new Confirmation of Gold Membership document and pay the $ (plus applicable tax) Gold Upgrade Fee. The new confirmation and payment must be received and processed before a contract for the Toronto Gift Fair will be provided to you. A separate exhibit booth contract will be forwarded and must be completed and returned, along with booth space payment by the date indicated. The estimated cost of a standard 10 x 10 booth is CDN $1, Example 2: If you are a Gold Member and accept the space offered, you are NOT required to complete any further membership requirements. The estimated cost for a standard 10 x10 booth is CDN $1, If you are not able to accept the booth space offered at the time you are contacted, you will remain a Gold or Silver Member on the list for space. A member of the show team will contact you when another option is available. Toronto Gift Fair General Display/Booth Set-Up Guidelines 1. Pipe & Drape Booths are Prohibited exhibitors must supply their own pre-fabricated booths. If fabric walls are used, it must be taut from top to bottom and fire retardant. 2. Suitable floor covering including broadloom, tile, carpet, etc. must cover the entire floor space within your booth. Raised flooring must be beveled. 3. All exhibit structures must have self supporting walls exactly 8 high extending the full width and depth of the booth, except where an open corner exists. 4. Booth walls must be neatly finished on all exposed sides. 5. Exhibit structures must be constructed to allow sufficient space for utility services at the rear of the booth. (4 6 should be sufficient) 6. All booths must leave a minimum of 50% of exposed sides open for access from aisles. 7. No covered booths are permitted in the fair due to fire regulations.

8 MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES Membership eligibility is based on two components. First your company must actively supply goods, at the wholesale level, to gift, tableware, household and fashion accessory retailers. Secondly, these goods must meet the product criteria established by the CanGift Board of Directors, as amended from time-to-time. Several levels of membership exist within CanGift. If you wish to exhibit at next Toronto Gift Fair, apply for Gold Membership. If your company does not wish to exhibit at the next Toronto Gift Fair, but you are interested in exhibiting in the future, apply for Silver Membership. Contact us if you are interested in accessing the many benefits available to members, but you are NOT interested in exhibiting at the Toronto Gift Fair. We understand that membership in CanGift is only transferable according to CanGift By-Laws, Policies and Procedures, and that membership fee payments are non-refundable once membership has been accepted. We also understand that it is our responsibility to keep CanGift informed of any changes in our business status by providing copies of current name registrations, partnership registrations and corporate articles or amendments. Membership will be allocated to the company listed on this application and not to any one individual.
