3 Scenario for the Assignment Cumbria Youth Network OCR Level 1 / 2 Cambridge National Certificate in ICT Cumbria Support Network (CSN) is a charity that s looking for new ways to help local youngsters cope with social and lifestyle issues. CSN usually runs campaigns on their website to raise awareness of such issues and promote positive messages, especially among the pre-teen age group. You have been asked by the charity to create a dynamic product for a new campaign on their website. The following brief has been released by the charity to help you make a suitable product. Cumbria Support Network (CSN) is a charity that helps pre-teens in our local area cope with a range of social and lifestyle issues, from staying safe online to having healthy hobbies and interests. For the new campaign, CSN would like you to pick an issue that s relevant to pre-teens and then develop a product that promotes a positive message in a way that will be informative but also entertaining so that it can be enjoyed by all in the target age group. For your new campaign, the charity will also be pleased to meet with you to discuss the content and key messages of your planned product. The dynamic product you need to create will be uploaded to the charity s website and also added to the charity's social networking and audio/video hosting websites. Local primary schools have also agreed to play the product to their pupils in assemblies and lessons, as appropriate for the age group. Apart from meeting the requirements of the brief above, the product you make will need to: be between 15 and 90 seconds in length include at least one of the following: animation sound video. You could use components (assets) from a range of sources, to help create your product. You are not expected to create all of these components yourself. 4 Read through all of the tasks carefully, so that you know what you will need to do to complete this assignment. Important You will need to have access to the marking criteria. Your teacher can explain the marking criteria if you need further clarification. 5 Your Tasks Task 1: Getting ready to create your dynamic product Parts of Learning Outcomes 1 and 3 are assessed in this task It is important that before you start to make your product you have thought about what it is you are going to make, how you are going to make it and how you will decide if the product meets user requirements. A. Produce a design specification for your dynamic product. This specification should include the following: The type of product you are going to create. This will include at least one of the following: o animation o video o sound. Your product may contain just one or a combination of two or more of the above. A list of success criteria. These criteria could be used at the end of this project to help decide whether or not you have created a good product that meets the needs of the client. A timeline storyboard and/or script for your product. The software you intend to use to create the product, the software needed by the client to run your final product, and the reasons for your choices. Any other relevant information that you think is important when designing the product. Your tutor will provide evidence of the extent to which you needed help and support to produce this design specification. B. Identify the components you intend to use to make your dynamic product, explaining the reasons for your choice(s) and considering legal implications. C. Store these components to use when you create your dynamic product. D. Create a plan for how you are going to test your product. 6 Task 2: Making your dynamic product Parts of Learning Outcomes 2 and 3 are assessed in this task You are now ready to create your dynamic product. A. Create your product by doing the following: import your source components into your chosen editing software use techniques to edit and enhance your dynamic product test your product as you develop it to make sure that it works as intended save your product in an editable format. B. Export your product. You will need to decide which file type will be appropriate for the finished product. Explain the reasons for your choice of file type. C. Explain the advantages and disadvantages of exporting as different file types. Task 3: Testing your completed product Part of Learning Outcome 3 is assessed in this task Test your finished product to make sure that it works as intended and meets the needs of the client.
