1 Sample Advertising Examples Below are sample ad examples that we re presenting to get your creative juices flowing. These are pieces my father Lloyd Walters put together for our note business some years back. You ll notice they are scans of the actual promo pieces. That s because we don t have the license to be able to allow you to reuse the graphical images. That s why they aren t camera ready. We just wanted to give you examples of promo pieces. However, you may use the copy that you find on these advertisements any way you like. You will most likely be drawn to the copy on the brochure below. You have our permission to use that copy if it will help you. You can find images to use commercially on The goal of the images in these ads is to get noticed. It s kind of a pattern interrupt with the goal of getting the target s attention. You can try doing this with other types of graphics, but we wanted to give you the intent of the impact as you looked through these. I ve blackened out the phone number so please don t try to call it even if you can see it as we ve moved since then and the number and address are no longer current. 2 FLYERS Flyers can be used as handouts or enclosed in direct mailings. If you have the means, they can be passed out to all of the real estate agents in your area. Create flyers aimed at being noticed and talked about by everyone in the office. You will find that they may get copied and passed out to friends and other businesses. What could be better? You can also use them as inserts in mailings. They have the same attention getting effect when received in any office. Just remember that even here we are competing against a large volume of other promotional material. Yours needs to be different and attention getting or it won't stand a chance. Print them on colored paper and use them just one time each. To use them more than one time is like telling the same joke twice. 9 BUSINESS CARDS Business cards are nothing more than marketing tools. One shouldn t let their ego get in the way of a card that contains some sell. If your card won't help get business, what good is it? Don't create a card that is so expensive you will be reluctant to distribute it by the thousands. Include them with all your marketing material. Leave them wherever you travel. Places like restaurants, banks, libraries - even rest rooms. Make the little guys earn their keep. Every time you see a printing company having a special on business cards, have some unique ones printed. Let them just carry a one-time message or offer. They might not even have your name, just your offer and phone number. They can become a special little insert that you get at a very low cost. 11 BROCHURES Some people just don t feel like they re really in business unless they have a brochure. Before you create one, ask yourself just how you plan on using it. Will it be to "tell" or "sell", or both? In a mailing the reader looks to the letter to deliver the message. Other material will be consulted if the message in the letter has created real interest. Some people want more facts or details before they will act. Directing people to a website can certainly serve this purpose. A more immediate point of information can be a brochure. It can "tell", having left the "sell" to the cover letter, website or other material. If the brochure must stand alone, if it will be delivered with no other marketing material, it must sell and tell. This is a much more demanding assignment. Your challenge will be to create a brochure that has the impact to be noticed, draw the prospect into the copy, and hold their interest for a period long enough to deliver your complete message. Brochures are expensive to produce, so they must have a long life. Be sure the information you include will be relevant for a good long while, or consider not having a brochure and simply refer the reader to your website that can be updated when needed. 20 STICKERS AND LABELS Small stickers can be included with your mailings. Ask note holders to affix them directly to their note so they will have your phone number when they are ready to sell. Put a sticker on the envelope of every one of your everyday letters, even when you are paying bills. Who knows who may read your message and respond? 21 POSTCARDS Don't overlook the power of the postcard. No envelope to open means they get read about 98% of the time.
