5 CAI-GEORGIA ADVOCACY: LEGISLATIVE ACTION COMMITTEE (LAC) Formed in 1995, the Georgia Legislative Action Committee (CAI GA-LAC) is a volunteer committee of CAI consisting of homeowners and professionals serving community associations. The CAI GA-LAC works with those living and working in community associations to speak on their behalf with one united voice on legislative and regulatory matters that affect community associations. Responsible for identifying legislative issues of importance to community associations in Georgia, the GA-LAC monitors legislation and helps set specific legislative priorities, builds relationships with and educates state officials to make CAI GA-LAC the go-to resource when they are presented with community association issues. Its mission is to improve the community association lifestyle and home values by advocating for a reasonable balance between state requirements and the ability of individual homeowners to govern their communities. Funded by member dues, the CAI GA-LAC efforts contribute to CAI s standing as the foremost legislative voice for the community association industry throughout the State of Georgia, providing advocacy for legislative actions, educating and informing elected officials on community association interests and an overall purpose of protecting community associations and service providers to associations.
