3 WHAT IS THE MAGNUT SALE? The Cuncil Prduct Prgram Department fcuses n mney-earning activities that help sustain bth ur Cuncil and trps thrugh tw annual prgrams - the fall MagNut Sale and the spring Ckie Sale. The wrd MagNut is an abbreviated term we use in Girl Scuts t define the tw categries f ur sale - Magazines and Nuts. Since 2012, we have expanded the sale t include chclates and varius gifts. Prceeds earned frm the MagNut Sale can ffset either all r a large part f the cst f Girl Scut activities and relieve parents f this bligatin t! This year the dr-t-dr sale lasts 3 weeks: September 28, Octber 21, 2018 Our service dg masct is named after Cheyenne, ur 2017 MagNut tp seller! Here is Cheyenne with Peggy Sanchez Mills, CEO. In additin t all yur lve, supprt and inspiratin, there are sme specific respnsibilities yu ll need t assume t ensure yur girl s MagNut sale is a success: Parents Attend her trp s Fall Prduct Prgram training; sign and return the parent permissin frm t the trp. This must be submitted befre she begins selling. Review the Fall Prduct Prgram infrmatin tgether s that she understands it and help her t set her sales gals. Help her set up her Unify Online Stre. Shw an interest in her effrts, help her t think f prspective custmers and help her practice her sales pitch. Help her t meet her deadlines by taking rders n earlier than September 28 and submit her rders by the dates set by her trp. Cllect mney fr all paper magazine rders up frnt. Mney fr nuts and chclate are nt t be cllected until the prduct is delivered. Prmptly pick up her nut and chclate rder and assist her in delivery t her custmers. Accept financial respnsibility fr all prducts and mney received. Remember that prducts cannt be returned t the trp r cuncil nce signed fr. Failure t accunt fr mney and prducts received will be cnsidered misapprpriatin f funds. Remember, the MagNut Prgram helps Girl Scuts learn hnesty and fairness. Lead by example. 3

4 Setting Up fr Success! PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS Girls participating in the MagNut sale must be registered Girl Scuts and have a prduct permissin frm n file prir t the start f the sale. Participating girls must als be free and clear f debt t the cuncil. ATTEND YOUR TROOP MAGNUT MEETING Yur Trp Leader will schedule a meeting with yur trp t discuss the trp s participatin in the sale. What plans des yur trp have fr the cming Girl Scut year? What will it cst t accmplish thse plans? Once yur trp has had the pprtunity t plan the trp activities fr the year, yu can share these gals and hw much mney is needed in rder fr yur trp t reach these gals with yur parents. Having a plan in place will help yur trp reach their gals and it s even ne f the requirement fr earning yur financial literacy badges! FINANCIAL LITERACY PROGRAM Selling magazines, nuts and chclates nt nly helps yur trp raise mney but it als helps yu learn the five financial literacy skills that are essential t success in life: Gal Setting Decisin Making Mney Management Peple Skills Business Ethics Yu can earn the Financial Literacy badges fr yur age level by participating in the sale. Whether it s yur first time participating in the sale r yur trp wants t take their gals t the next level, the 59 Minute Quick Start prgram will have yu and yur friends dialing, smiling, learning frm each ther and sharing the excitement f reaching yu gals! Ask yur trp leader t plan a meeting where girls bring cell phnes (and chargers). Girls will lg int their Unify Online Stre t get a text link t share with custmers fr payment. Girls then spend 59 minutes calling friends and family asking them t help supprt their trps sales gals. Text them the link! Because everything is nline, there is n mney t cllect r prduct t deliver.
