3 Dear Prospective Intern: Thank you for your interest in the Women s Extreme Basketball Association Internship Program. The WEBA is newest most exciting professional Sports League in the World and you have an unique opportunity to be a part of something truly special. If you goal is a career in professional sports, a health club facility, facility management or recreation, you have made the right decision to contact us. Intern positions are currently available in six different departments. Interns will acquire practical knowledge through hands-on experience and gain invaluable skills necessary to compete for jobs in the sports and health club industries when their program is completed. As you will see in the following pages, the WEBA is offering internship positions in Basketball Operations, Business Operations, Community Relations, Game-day Operations, Marketing and Media Relations. The internships are at both the League level and with our member teams. So if you live in an area that is within close proximity to one of member teams, the same positions apply. While you see some similarities in their descriptions, most of our intern positions differ in their responsibilities and time commitments. For this reason, it is important that you read through each description and carefully choose the program(s) which interest you most. Even if you have already made contact with the WEBA via a resume or phone call, you must formally apply for the internship program(s) of your choice by submitting your resume and cover letter. 4 Basketball Operations Internship* February 1 st August 30 th Hours per week: Credit only Intern will work closely with Team President, Office Manager, Coaches, Trainer and Director of Basketball Operations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: (a) Assisting with team travel arrangements, schedule, and reservations (b) Organizing coaching staff mail and phone messages (c) Assisting with various responsibilities during team training camp (d) Assisting with game day responsibilities as needed (e) Transporting players and other league officials (f) Assist with team outfitting responsibilities (g) Coordinating ball-kids schedule

5 Business Operations Internship* January 1 st August 30 th Hours per week: Credit only Intern will work closely with President, General Manager. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: (a) Assist with the processing of expense reports (b) Prepare/assist with team per diem reports as needed (c) Collection and input of key databases (d) Assist with inventory control (e) Process of bank deposits (f) General office administration responsibilities (g) Assist with game day responsibilities as needed

6 Game Presentation Internship/Game Day Staff* February 1 st August 30 th Hours per week: Credit only Interns will work directly with the President, General Manager, and Director of Game Day Operations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: (a) Assist with planning, coordination and implementation of game presentation and operations (b) Assist with game/special events while working with team sponsors to coordinate elements of marketplace and in-arena promotional activity on behalf of the organization (c) Assist with activities and events related to the Fan Club, Tip-Off Celebrations, Season Ticket Holder Events and play-off activities (d) Assist with the development and fulfillment of in-game entertainment elements including scheduling and support for halftimes, anthem performers, color guards, quarter break and timeout activities (sponsored and non-sponsored), and concourse/lobby activity (e) General office duties: data entry, answering phones, copying, filing, faxing (f) Other duties as assigned

7 Marketing Internship* December 1 st September 30 th Hours per week: Credit/Commission Intern will work directly with the General Manager and Community Relations Director. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: (a) Assist with establishing a strategic marketing plan to achieve business objectives (b) Assist with developing and executing comprehensive marketing plans and program (c) Assist with researching, analyzing, and monitoring financial, technological, and demographic factors to capitalize on market opportunities and minimize effects of competitive activity (d) Assist with creating and managing a marketing operating budget (e) Assist with planning and overseeing advertising and promotion activity including print, online, electronic media, and direct mail (f) Assist in the development and production of promotional and collateral materials (g) Assist with selling sponsorships (h) Assist with game night activities (i) Assist with developing and executing plans to increase team s database (j) Assist with selling fixed advertising

8 Media Relations Internship* January 1 st August 30 th Hours per week: Credit only Intern will work directly with the President, General Manager, and Director of Media Relations Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: (a) Assist Media Relations Manager on a day-to-day basis with developing channels locally and across the region for disseminating news and publicity regarding the team for newspapers, television, radio, periodicals and websites (b) Feature writing; creating, writing and distributing press releases (c) Updating team website (d) Developing and nurturing relationships with targeted media (f) The logistics of special events and press conferences (g) Working closely with team colleagues and the league to ensure high visibility and clear positioning of the team with local audiences (h) Assist Media Relations Manager with game-day operations, including (but not limited to) media credential requests; setting up press accommodations; compilation and distribution of game notes; compilation and distribution of statistics; compilation and distribution of post-game notes, quotes and box scores

9 Ticket Sales and Fan Relations Internship* December 1 st September 30 th Hours per week: Commission/Credit Intern will work directly with the President, General Manager, and Director of Media Relations (a) Assist in managing single game ticket sales, multiple game ticket sales, and season ticket sales. (b) Generating new season ticket sales and individual sales. (c) Managing ticket sales will include handling ticket orders, payments, mailing tickets, ensuring tickets are available at ticket booths, and tickets at will call are available and accurately labeled. (d) Create fan appreciation promotions and working closely with Marketing in handling promotions and basic fan relations. (e) Responsible for all other special projects as assigned by management.
