1 Saskatchewan Labour Force Statistics June 2018 UNADJUSTED DATA According to the Statistics Canada Labour Force Survey during the week covering June 10 th to 16 th, 2018, there were 583,700 persons employed in Saskatchewan. This is an increase of 11,900 from May 2018 and 3,900 more than the number employed in June Agricultural employment was 37,500 persons in June 2018, down 1,300 from the May 2018 level and 600 less than the June 2017 agricultural employment level of 38,100. Nonagricultural employment was 546,200 persons in June This is an increase of 13,200 from the May 2018 non-agriculture employment level of 533,000 and 4,500 more than June The Saskatchewan unemployment rate for June 2018 was 5.6 percent. This is a decrease of 1.3 percentage points from the May 2018 rate of 6.9 percent and 0.2 percentage points lower than the June 2017 level of 5.8 percent. Saskatchewan's labour force increased by 4,300 to 618,300 persons in June 2018 from 614,000 persons in May This is 2,800 more than the June 2017 labour force of 615,500 persons. The Saskatchewan participation rate rose 0.5 percentage points to 69.9 percent in June 2018 from 69.4 percent in May The June 2017 participation rate for Saskatchewan was 70.2 percent. There were 34,700 persons unemployed in Saskatchewan during June This is a decrease of 7,500 from May 2018 and is 1,000 less than the num ber unemployed in June SEASONALLY ADJUSTED DATA On a seasonally adjusted basis there were 572,000 persons employed in Saskatchewan in June 2018, up 8,300 from the May 2018 level of 563,700 and is up 4,300 from the June 2017 employment level of 567,700 persons. The Saskatchewan seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for June 2018 was 6.3 percent. This is a decrease of 0.5 percentage points from the May 2018 rate of 6.8 percent and 0.2 percentage points lower than the June 2017 rate of 6.5 percent. CANADIAN DATA Canadian employment increased by 193,700 persons in June 2018 to 18,978,800 persons from 18,785,100 persons in May In June 2017, there were 17,769,300 persons employed in Canada. Canada's unemployment rate decreased 0.2 percentage points in June 2018 to 5.7 percent from the May 2018 level of 5.9 percent. In June 2017, Canada's unemployment rate was 6.0 percent. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for Canada was 6.0 percent in June This is 0.2 percentage points higher than May 2018 but 0.5 percentage points lower than the June 2017 level of 6.5 percent.
