1 Saskatchewan Labour Force Statistics April 2018 UNADJUSTED DATA According to the Statistics Canada Labour Force Survey during the week covering April 15 th to 21 st, 2018, there were 558,300 persons employed in Saskatchewan. This is a decrease of 4,400 from March 2018 and 1,800 less than the number employed in April Agricultural employment was 36,200 persons in April 2018, up 1,600 from the March 2018 level but 500 less than the April 2017 agricultural employment level of 36,700. Nonagricultural employment was 522,100 persons in April This is a decrease of 6,000 from the March 2018 non-agriculture employment level of 528,100 and 1,300 less than April The Saskatchewan unemployment rate for April 2018 was 7.1 percent. This is an increase of 0.7 percentage points from the March 2018 rate of 6.4 percent and 0.1 percentage points higher than the April 2017 level of 7.0 percent. Saskatchewan's labour force decreased by 200 to 601,200 persons in April 2018 from 601,400 persons in March This is 1,300 less than the April 2017 labour force of 602,500 persons. The Saskatchewan participation rate of 68.1 percent in April 2018 remained unchanged from March The April 2017 participation rate for Saskatchewan was 68.8 percent. There were 42,900 persons unemployed in Saskatchewan during April This is an increase of 4,200 from March 2018 and is 500 more than the number unemployed in April SEASONALLY ADJUSTED DATA On a seasonally adjusted basis there were 565,800 persons employed in Saskatchewan in April 2018, down 4,900 from the March 2018 level of 570,700 and is down 2,300 from the April 2017 employment level of 568,100 persons. The Saskatchewan seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for April 2018 was 6.3 percent. This is an increase of 0.5 percentage points from the March 2018 rate of 5.8 percent but 0.1 percentage points lower than the April 2017 rate of 6.4 percent. CANADIAN DATA Canadian employment increased by 100,300 persons in April 2018 to 18,417,700 persons from 18,317,400 persons in March In April 2017, there were 18,097,000 persons employed in Canada. Canada's unemployment rate decreased 0.2 percentage points in April 2018 to 6.1 percent from the March 2018 level of 6.3 percent. In April 2017, Canada's unemployment rate was 6.8 percent. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for Canada was 5.8 percent in April This remained unchanged from March 2018 but 0.6 percentage points lower than the April 2017 level of 6.4 percent.
