6 CIRP Definition of Manufacturing System The manufacturing system is defined as An organization in the manufacturing industry for the creation of production. In the mechanical and electrical engineering industries a manufacturing system in general has an integrated groups of functions: They are the sales, design, manufacturing production, and shipping functions. A research function may provide a service to one or more of the other functions.
