2 Welcome to the Blackhawk Area Council Popcorn Program! Buying Boy Scout Popcorn is more than just handing over money for some delicious popcorn. It s about the skills and learning a Scout gains from interacting directly with customers, adult leaders, and family. It s about the experience of running his own popcorn company and working with others. Purchasing Scouting Popcorn means you get a tasty snack and a boy learns a lifetime of skills. 4 Pecatonica River Popcorn was started in 1983 when a District of the Blackhawk Area Council was interested in earning funds for their Scouting adventures by selling popping corn. The sale was so successful that the Blackhawk Area Council and many others joined the popcorn program. Pecatonica River Popcorn is a local family owned company in Livingston, Wisconsin. Attention to detail and quality are the keys to the success of Pecatonica River Popcorn. Corn is ear harvested and then hand sorted to select the most perfect ears. Rather than choosing corn hybrids that have the highest yields, varieties are selected on taste and tenderness. 5 Commission Rates Troops and Pack can choose Cash Only or Cash & Prizes Units selecting cash only receive: 35% Units selecting cash and prizes receive: 30% cash and Prizes **You will make this selection online when registering your Unit for the sale. If you do not know at the time of the sale, or are having trouble updating the commission, please contact your District Kernel. If You Choose Cash and Prizes Use the prize sheets to help the Scouts set their personal goals for success. Setting and meeting goals is a big part of Scouting and important to your child s development. At the completion of the sale, once you have placed your order online at prpopcorn.com: 1. A prize order button will appear on the Unit dashboard to order prizes - Simply follow the prompts at this point. How to place the prize orders for your Unit: Details on how to place the prize & patch orders for your unit are listed below and on the You place your order on the website. Use your prize worksheet to figure the details of the prize order you ll want to enter. It s available at Place your prize order at the same time you finalize your popcorn order at the end of the sale. Be sure your order is complete. Then return to your dashboard. Click on the Order Prizes button. You will automatically connect to the Prize site and all your data will be uploaded, ready for your prize selections. When ordering simply continue to follow the prompts. Prizes should total no more than 5% of your total sales Prizes and patches will be shipped directly to you, the Unit Popcorn Kernel, at the address you indicate on the prize website. Status of shipping, ordering, backordered items, etc. must be done through the prize company using the information you received when your order was placed. (Confirmation s) **All Scouts will receive a popcorn patch for selling in the sale. **All Units will order their patches through the prize company, regardless of commission choice.

6 Boy Scout Blitz Weekend Kick Off Prize The top selling Scout in each district on Kickoff Weekend will receive a BSA Tent. your District Kernel with the name, Unit and sales amount for your Cub Scout, Boy Scout or Venturer top seller. Total Sales Prize The top selling Scout in the entire Council at the end of the Spring sale will receive an IPad Mini. Fill-A-Form Fill an order form with a different customer on each line and receive a $10 gift card good towards camp fees or the Scout Store. Fill-A-Form gift cards will be issued to the unit by the District Kernel. Names of recipients must be sent to your District Popcorn Chair in the excel order worksheet no later than April 10.

7 End of Sales District Prizes At the conclusion of the sale on April 10th, the District Kernel will use each Unit spreadsheet to determine how many entries, per boy, there are for selling Cheese Lovers and Classic Trios. For every Classic Trio Tin that a Scout sells, their name will be entered into a random drawing for a Jetboil Stove. For every Cheese Lovers that a Scout sells, their name will be entered into a random drawing for a GoPro Camera. One boy in EACH DISTRICT will win one of these prizes. Popcorn Patch Each Scout that sells $25 worth of popcorn will receive a patch. The patches are ordered through the prize website even if your unit elected no prizes. Patches will be sent directly to the registered Popcorn Kernel for your Unit. Braves of Blackhawk Each Scout selling $350 in popcorn will become an honorary Brave of Blackhawk and receive this special recognition patch. A Braving Ceremony Script can be found at your District Popcorn Training or at Number of Braves of Blackhawk Patches must be submitted to your District Popcorn Chair through the excel order worksheet not later than April 10. Patches will be distributed at Popcorn Pick up.

If your unit elects to earn 30% cash commission plus the prizes, here are few items you need to know! All prizes are handled by a third party prize company.. Place your prize order at the same time you place your popcorn order Prizes will get sent directly to the person placing the order Visit to place the prize order from your dashboard Prizes should total no more than 5% of your total sales Popcorn prize brochures will be available at the time of material pickup Status of shipping, ordering, backordered items, etc. must be done through the prize company using the information you received when your order was placed.

10 Purchase a Military Donation Scouts and customers have a great opportunity to support our military! Customers can purchase a Military Donation product that will be sent to Troops serving overseas from the area in which the Blackhawk Area Council serves.

11 Right now, by March 10th at the latest: 1) Navigate to 2) Click My Account in the top right corner of the page. 3) Click Create User Profile 4) Enter the Council Key 660Hawk 5) Choose your District, Unit Type, and Unit # from the dropdown menu to see if your Unit is already on file. If not, please contact dane.boudreau@scouting.org to have your Unit added. 6) At this point, fill out the required information and the address for the Unit contact. 8) Review your information on the Unit Commitment Preview page and then click Submit. You will then receive a confirmation and may reenter the site at any time to update information. At the bottom of the confirmation , you will receive a spreadsheet that will be ed to your District Kernel at the close of the sale. We MUST HAVE THIS SPREADSHEET in order to: Pick Up Day/Payments Varies by District (check popcornsale.org for updates) Invoices will be ed to you from your district popcorn chair before this date Bring a copy of your order Bring a vehicle large enough to collect your popcorn in one trip Additional details will be communicated to you via your District Kernel One check is due at time of pick up for the NET amount Your check will be held until May 17th Invoices will be sent out prior to pick up Please make sure all checks are written correctly and payable to: Blackhawk Area Council Online Orders (Online sales close at midnight on April 30th) If less than $100, online Unit commissions will be put into the Unit account If over $100, a check will be mailed to the registered Committee Chair person of the Unit - If another should receive the check, we need confirmation from the Key 3 of the Unit

12 Increase your profit through internet sales! Pecatonica River Popcorn gives you the ability to sell to relatives and friends via the internet! Reaching sales goals are that much more attainable as you are no longer confined geographically. FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW Contact your Unit Leader and let them know that you want to register to sell online. You will need to provide a home address to receive your Seller s ID and confirmations when orders have shipped with your Seller s ID. If the Scout has previously sold online, their Seller ID will remain the same as the previous sale. When your Unit Leader signs you up for a Seller s Id, the following will be sent to the address you provided. This can be forwarded on to family and friends to help support you and your unit for the popcorn sale. Congratulations, your Scout has been signed up to sell online by the unit leader. The form with ordering instructions to forward to family and friends is below. Please omit this first paragraph before forwarding on to your contacts. Please support me and scouting by ordering a made-to-order popcorn tin. Pecatonica River Popcorn allows you to choose a 2 or 3 gallon tin with your own individualized combination of up to 3 gourmet popcorn flavors. The special flavors and descriptions are available at You may also choose to send a taste of home to our U.S. Military men and women by purchasing a Popcorn Military Donation. These donations are available in denominations from $10-$100 and ship direct from Pecatonica River Popcorn to men and women in the U.S. Military. 14 1 How to Tabulate My Order... During the Sale 1) Navigate to 2) Click My Account in the top right corner of the page. 3) Enter the and password that was used to commit the unit to sell. 4) Click Download Worksheet Tool from the unit dashboard. 5) Enter in the Unit information, scout names and product quantities that each boy sold. 6) The totals at the bottom of the page are what you enter into the popcorn order form to place your popcorn order. 7) Print, Save, or your worksheet to satisfy record keeping or commission requirements. 2 How to Place a Popcorn Order... End of Sale 1) Navigate to 2) Click My Account in the top right corner of the page. 3) Enter the and password that was used to commit the unit to sell. 4) Click Place Order from the unit dashboard. 5) Choose your order type from the drop box menu and click search. 6) If step five returned no records, click the Click Here link. 7) Choose the sale type and pick up location from the drop down menus. 8) If placing a show and sell order you will get a message letting you know that the order should be entered in the Case Qty column. Upon entering a value the order form will tabulate the total number of containers being ordered and their retail value. 9) If placing a Take Order you will get a message letting you know that the order should be entered using the Container Qty field. Upon entering a value the order form will be tabulate the total number of containers being ordered and their retail value. 10) Click Preview Order to review the information you just entered. 11) Click Submit to place your order. You will be allowed to edit your order until the council approves the order for fulfillment. 3 How to Edit a Popcorn Order... During the Sale 1) Navigate to 2) Click My Account in the top right corner of the page 3) Enter the and password that was used to commit the unit to sell. 4) Click View Orders/Edit from the unit dashboard. 5) You are able to edit the order as long as the approved column shows a No next to the order. Once approved you will no longer be able to do any edits to the order. To make changes click the edit link to the right of the order.

15 4 How to Sign up Scout for Online Seller ID... During or before the sale 1) Navigate to 2) Click My Account in the top right corner of the page. 3) Enter the and password that was used to commit the unit to sell. 4) Click Enter a Scout for a Seller ID from the unit dashboard. 5) Enter the Scout s First Name, First two initials of Last Name and the parent guardian . Repeat until all Scouts have been signed up. **If a Scout has previously used Online Sales, their Online Seller ID will remain the same from a previous sale 6 How to enter Scout into Winners Circle... End of Sale 1) Navigate to 2) Click My Account in the top right corner of the page. 3) Enter the and password that was used to commit the unit to sell. 4) Click Enter Scout into Winners Circle from the unit dashboard. 5) Enter the Scout s First Name, First two initials of Last Name, Dollar Amount Sold (including online sales, zip code, prize choice and the parent guardian . Attached a copy of the sales flyers or worksheet tool that can be used to verify the sales being reported. Repeat until all Scouts have been signed up. **All information is available (as well as this guide) on:
