1 Dalex Consulting Nutritionist Update The latest update for Dalex is ready for release. There are number of the changes in this program. I will attempt to identify these changes for each of the species. SWINE: 1. Login as Standard Nutrition Company 2. Tools/Customize a. View b. Save i. If your computer speed is slower consider: 1. Turn off Select Customer at Startup 2. Turn off Load Ration when Customer is Selected ii. Turn on the Tree Views for: 1. Change Active Customer 2. Ration Template Selection 3. Feeding Program Selection i. Turn on Prompt Before Committing Changes to the Database 1. This feature will ask you to confirm changes to the feed ingredients under customer ingredient maintenance. If this is off, the changes will be made without a chance to back out them. ii. Turn on Prompt to Save Rations 1. This feature will ask to save changes that have been made to rations. If this is off, the rations will automatically be changed when you exit the rations without a chance to cancel. iii. Turn off Make New Customer Ingredients Available to all Customer Rations

2 c. Print d. Rations 1. If this is on, any ingredient you add to the producer feed library will be available in all existing rations. If this is off, you need make the ingredients available in the rations you desire but will not have the nuisance of ingredients showing where you do not wish to have them. 2. If you are use the Hide Unavailable feature on the ration screen, you will need to turn this off to be able to see the ingredients on the rations screen. iv. Set the Ingredient Type for Imported Ingredients to: 1. Sub-Ration i. Check the box to Make All Header Info the Same. ii. Then set the Header Info for one of the Ration Analysis types i. Turn on Always Calculate Analysis Before Printing and When Ration is Selected 1. This performs a calculation only. This does not attempt to optimize the ration. It will not change ingredient amounts; it only updates nutrient profiles to match changes in the database. ii. Under Nutrient Lists 1. This is the area where you will choose the default nutrient list that will display when you open the ration balancing screen. You will come back to this area to change the default. The list you view can be changed on the ration screen. e. Click OK to Finish and Save Changes. 3. Your system is set up to allow for duplicate ingredient names. This allows you to select an ingredient more than once from the Master Library if you need duplicates of any ingredients. This is of particular interest of the metric users since adding and copying ingredient

3 profiles within the customer library does not keep the metric tag for multiple rations. 4. Under Customer Ingredient Maintenance a. Select Ingredients i. There is a check box to make an ingredient available to all rations if you desire. When you add an ingredient that you wish to have in all rations, make certain that this box is checked. ii. There are a variety of ways you can look up ingredients for transfer to the customer library: 1. By code type the code in the space the system will find the ingredient. Especially helpful in finding products that you know the product number of. 2. By name type in the name of the ingredient and the system will find the ingredient. 3. Search the database 5. The template section of the program has been expanded. Most of Standard products have a template associated with it based on the tag for the product. DAIRY: 1. Login as Standard Nutrition Company 2. 9 ALL USERS: As a result of the update, the user name of the system has been reset to Standard Nutrition Company. To reset this to your log in, follow the steps below: 1. File 2. File a. Maintain i. User Information 1. Change your name and phone numbers 2. This will become you new login and replace Standard Nutrition Company 3. Do not put a password on this login. 4. Click OK a. Login as a Different User: b. Enter your name as you filled in section 1.
