3 Get To Know Struktol Quick Guides Struktol s vast polymer additive experience is translated into the most intelligent solutions available anywhere. Each of our additives are tested and retested to insure maximum product quality and performance consistency. Struktol manufactures a complete line of additives that function individually or in combination as adhesives, lubricants and surfactants, all accompanied by a wide range of benefits. Case Studies Improved Processing Improved Performance Cost Reduction A compounder of flame retarded polypropylene was unable to efficiently mold their compound due to the high temperatures and pressures required during processing. The molding conditions caused problems with the flame retardant system. By adding 1% of STRUKTOL TR 251 the customer was able reduce the process temperature by 20 C and reduce the pressures required to completely fill the mold. A compounder of polycarbonate resin was able to reduce the viscosity of his product by 25% using 1% of STRUKTOL TR 044W without sacrificing any clarity due to the additive. This viscosity reduction led to a corresponding reduction in molded-in stress which improved the mechanical performance of the material. In addition the additive provided improved mold filling and release. A rigid PVC profile extruder was able to increase the addition level of regrind into his product by adding a costabilizing STRUKTOL V Series product. The additive maintained the heat stability of the compound resulting in substantial cost per part savings due to the increased level of regrind added. No performance reduction was seen. Many Struktol Intelligent Additive Solutions are the result of a partnering effort between our customer and our sales and technical staff. If we don t have the product that meets your needs you can count on us to develop something that exceeds your requirements.

A blend of anionic and nonionic surfactants for areas where EBS is being used. An effective dispersant and wetting agent for pigments and fillers in a wide variety of polymer systems. TR 255 is the FDA version. Non-Ionic A nonionic, ester-based wetting agent for polar fillers and pigments used for improved dispersion and metal release. Contains no metal ions. TR 045 is the FDA version. Provides flow and metal release with little or no effect on physical properties in most polymers. The best choice for polar or engineering resins. Very good heat stability. Resinous A compatibilizer and blending aid that reduces splay in colored and/or filled olefins. Extremely compatible with olefins and can be used to increase extrusion output rates. Amides Primary oleamide used as a slip agent in polyolefins. Its uniform bloom makes it a valuable flow and release agent in thermoplastics and thermoset elastomers. Erucic acid amide used as a higher temperature slip agent. Its slower migration rate is beneficial for printing films. Saturated primary amide which blooms in an invisible monolayer for surface appearance. Improved surface in rotomolded compounds. Ethylene bisstearamide wax for a wide range of polymers used for improved dispersion of pigments and fillers and viscosity modification. TR EBS VG is manufactured from high quality vegetable acid with low iodine value. Other DSTDP and DLTDP thioester secondary antioxidants for use in conjunction with phenolic primary antioxidants in a wide range of polymers. Simple and complex fatty acid esters for use in a wide range of PVC applications. Act as viscosity modifiers, metal release agents and processing improvers. (See PVC Additives Guide for details.) Metal Stearates A high purity micro-bead or pellet form of zinc stearate. Used extensively in resin production, compounding and color concentrate production. Other grades include Vegetable Grade and Clear Melt. Calcium and Magnesium Stearates.
