1 SPEC /0/18 1/ PURPOSE This specification describes the minimum requirements gland water piping systems operating at or below 400 PSIG. Gland water systems are to be constructed either of Carbon Steel or Stainless Steel. Stainless Steel: Cold drawn seamless stainless steel per ASTM A269, hardness 90 HRB max., plain ends, wall thickness to meet minimum pressure rating of 200 PSIG.

Branch Connections Note : Bore of welding neck flange to suit pipe ID. Make branch connections per Table 1. Attach to run pipe by full penetration welds. Threaded and socket weld half couplings, Class 3000 per ASME B16.11, forged carbon steel ASTM A10. Thredolet and sockolet, Class 3000 per ASME B16.11 and MSS SP-97, forged carbon steel ASTM A10. Flanged Joint Gaskets Threaded Joint Sealant Weldolet, Extra strong per ASME B16.11 and MSS SP-97, forged carbon steel ASTM A10. 1/16" thick flat ring type, inside bolts, non-asbestos, synthetic fibre, nitrile binder, gasket dope not permitted. CF8M, 316SS ball and stem, full port opening, reinforced teflon seats and stem seals, lever operated, screwed to ASME B Valves to be lockable. 3.0 TESTING Testing must meet the requirements of ASME B31.1, and PROC (hydrostatic testing) or SPEC-3048 (pneumatic testing only at the discretion of the Engineer) and specific instructions in the scope of work. Test Pressure Duration Additional Requirements 600 PSIG Per Code Isolate or remove necessary items for hydrostatic test. Do not pressure test butterfly valves in closed position. 4.0 EXAMINATION AND INSPECTION Examination and inspection must meet the requirements of ASME B31.1 and specific instructions in the scope of work. 100% visual examination for all sizes and thicknesses is required..0 CLASSIFICATION AND IDENTIFICATION The piping system shall be painted (classification) and labeled (identification) in accordance with SPEC Do not paint stainless steel piping systems.
