HOL-TEC Services to Oil and Gas LTD DRBM Repairs Riser Joint Cleaning and Coating Clamp and Thrust Collar Liners Fender Flotation and Surface Buoyancy Repairs Polyurethane Coating

Drill Riser Buoyancy Modules Riser Buoyancy modules provide lift when subsea and in doing so reduce the submerged weight of the riser joints, This minimises top tension and stress in the riser during deployment and retrieval of the blow out prevention stack.(bop). The use of damaged buoyancy.i.e. buoyancy which is cracked and takes on water and or buoyancy which has sections missing means that the modules effectiveness is compromised, this makes deployment and retrieval operations unstable increasing stress and tension on the riser and associated equipment.

Advantages of Repairing Modules Damaged modules repaired in time and correctly reduce the risk of breakage when in use thus reducing dropped and falling object incidents. Disposing of broken modules is costly and has an effect on the environment. Storage of broken modules is costly and wastes valuably space when they can be repaired and reused. When repaired using HOL-TECs procedures, and materials the module is more robust and more cost affective than buying new. Modules can be repaired even if the module is broken into several sections and can be repaired again and again massively extending its usable life thus reducing costs.

Materials and Procedures Modules are repaired using specially formulated syntactic materials developed and tested for deepwater applications. These materials are blended to ensure the specified buoyancy of the module is retained. In process, samples are retained and tested to ensure quality and traceability. Modules are over coated in a polyurethane elastomeric reinforced skin replacing the commonly used gel coat systems. This system and procedure is Patent pending and only currently available through HOL-TEC. The protective skin is applied by HOL-TEC`s skilled engineers using specifically designed application equipment. The protective skin is high impact and abrasive resistant, the thickness of the skin can range from 1mm to 20mm depending on project specification. The protective skin has excellent bond strength and is developed for the harshest of environments, dramatically reducing the impact on the internal buoyancy core and extending the modules usable life.

Riser Joint Cleaning and Coating In addition to HOL-TEC`s DRBM repair service we also offer a Riser Joint Cleaning and Coating service. Joints are cleaned using UHP equipment. The internal surface is then coated with a specially formulated material HOL-DA10 with built in corrosion inhibitors using HOL-TEC`s spin spray technology to eliminate the effects of corrosion whilst in storage. The Riser is then inspected internally using specialist camera recording equipment and all finding submitted to the client. The outer surface of the Riser joint is cleaned of all corrosion, prepped and then Coated in specified corrosion resistant coating.

Pin and Box End Protection for Riser joints Our range of pin and box end protection covers are manufactured from impact resistant Polyurethane. The pin and box ends are manufactured buy way of injection moulding to ensure the best possible fit up to the riser ends. All of our range of products weigh less than 30kg and can be installed by hand. Hol-tec also offers a bespoke range of protection moulding including protection Polyurethane matting.

Riser Clamps and Thrust Collar Coating As a replacement to the commonly used bonded rubber clamp liners HOL-TEC offers a spray applied polyurethane coating with excellent adhesion strength which eliminates contact/impact between the clamps and riser pipes thus reducing damage to the paint coating and in return the effects of corrosion. The polyurethane coating is very robust and has excellent adhesion to the corrosion coating meaning that installation time of the clamps is reduced, the process and cost of continually sourcing rubber, adhesive and the man hours taken to fit the rubber is eliminated making this a very cost affective option.

Fender Floatation and Surface Buoyancy Repairs Due to the harsh environments and the constant stress in which surface buoyancy and fendering systems are subject to, wear and damage is inevitable. Hol-Tec offers a comprehensive repair and refurbishment service where damaged equipment is repaired and the protective reinforced polyurethane skin is reapplied eliminating the cost of storage, disposal and or buying new products with lengthy delivery times. Ancillary parts such as clevis plates, chain tyre nets and steel work can be replaced on request.

Polymer Elastomeric Coating Hol-tec`s range of polyurethane coatings offer excellent protection from impact, corrosion and also dampen the effects of noise and vibration. Our range of coatings can be reinforced using chopped fibre glass or nylon netting adding extra strength where needed. The coatings are spray applied and can range from 1mm to 20+mm DFT depending on application. The coatings have excellent bond strength to a variety of substrates including steel, concrete, timber GRP and syntactic foams. Our range off coating are very versatile as is the application process and can be tailored to suit specific client needs.
