1 Description & Application: LEKSOL AL The Solvent of Choice Technical Information Sheet Leksol AL is the trade name for a High Performance Precision Cleaning Solvent system that is based upon an azeotropic blend of n-propyl Bromide with alcohol and an oxygenated hydrocarbon. It also includes a performance enhancing stabilizer package. Leksol AL is an approved non-flammable alternative to other products, which are known to have detrimental effects on the environment. It is a direct substitute for 111 Trichloroethane, TCE (Trichloroethylene) and other chlorinated solvents. Leksol AL is unique in that not only does it have numerous cost saving benefits, but also it is far more acceptable with regards to personal health and safety. Primary features attributable to Leksol AL are: Non-flammable (No flash point); Fast drying; Leaves no residue; High solvency power; Lower boiling point; Low toxicity, not carcinogenic or mutagenic; Low odour; Excellent flux residue remover. Leksol AL has the following Cost Benefits: Can be used in a current vapour degreasers without need for major plant modifications; Higher acid acceptance than rival products giving significantly increased operating life. Reduced costs for hazardous waste disposal (via Amity s disposal scheme); Reduced energy usage for vapour degreasing compared to TCE; Reduced solvent emissions for vapour degreasing; Quicker cleaning time leading to higher parts throughput; Elimination of need for expensive process control monitoring to satisfy environmental needs, not regulated by Montreal Protocol; Non-hazardous for transportation and use; Effective replacement for a wide variety of existing solvent/cleaning treatments. 2 A little goes a long way with aerosol products and hence they can help minimize overall solvent vapour losses to atmosphere. Applications Leksol AL is ideally suited for Vapour Degreasing, Ultrasonic Cleaning and Cold Cleaning of: - Metal components; - Marine & Automotive parts - Aerospace components and equipment; - Live electrical equipment; - Oxygen equipment; - Instruments; - Optical lenses; - Medical parts; - Electrical and electronic parts and equipment, including printed circuits. Leksol AL will remove: - Oils & Greases; - Resins & Inks; - Adhesives and Sealants; - Silicone oils; - Fluxes, organic and inorganic, e.g. types R, RMA and RA; - Non-resin flux compounds; - Ionic contaminants; - Grease spots from textiles. Compatibility Leksol AL may be safely applied to steel, aluminium, titanium, magnesium, zinc and other metal surfaces. Leksol AL is compatible with a wide range of plastics and elastomers for short-term exposure at room temperature, more so than Leksol itself, however specific materials should be tested prior to exposure. For information on the effect of the solvent on plastics and rubbers refer to Product Information Bulletin Health and Safety Leksol AL is classified as HARMFUL by inhalation. The product is non-flammable. See Safety Data Sheet for details. Information on recommended safety equipment can be obtained by reference to Product Information Bulletin Information on the regulatory status of Leksol, which is also applicable to Leksol AL, may be obtained by reference to Product Information Bulletin Page 2 of 5 Issue: 6 May 2015

Storage life of Leksol AL Wipes in original unopened containers, at between 5 C and 35 C (41 to 95 F), is not less than 24 months. Test Compliance: Meets the test requirements of Mil-T-81533A, that were applicable to 1,1,1-Trichloroethane. Will meet the requirements of Mil Standard 2000, applicable to allowable residual ionic contamination requirements for printed circuit boards. Achieves a test value of > 800º F when tested according to the requirements of ASTM G72, Standard Test Method for Autogenous Ignition Temperature of Liquids and Solids in a High- Pressure Oxygen-Enriched Environment. Process Control The recommended process controls applicable to vapour degreasing plants are as follows: Prior to a new plant start up or the change over to Leksol AL within an existing plant, the plant should be neutralized using the procedure set out in Amity Product Information Bulletin Vapour degreasing operational requirements are: a) Set sump temperature limit at between 75 C and 78 C (167 F and F) to minimize build up of contaminants and maintain operational effectiveness of the vapour degreasing unit. Note: replace the solvent when sump temperature limit is reached. Residual Leksol AL solvent may be recovered from the waste, contact Amity for details. Page 3 of 5 Issue: 6 May 2015
