Packing and Marking Each pair of sports footwear shall be packed in an individual box in order to protect them from damage during transportation, storage and handling 6.1 Marking Sports footwear The following information shall be marked on socks or tongue of sports footwear: a) The size of the sport footwear, b) The manufacture s name or trade mark, c) The design of the sports footwear, d) The types of upper materials i.e. leather or non-leather material, e) Any other information required by purchaser Boxes Each box shall bear the following information given in neat and legible marking at a position that is visible when boxes are stacked: a) The manufacturer s name or trademark; b) The size of the sports footwear; c) The design of the sports footwear; d) Any other information required by the purchaser. 9

7. Sampling and Conditioning 7.1 Sampling For all tests mentioned in this Draft Tanzania Standards, the sportswear shall be sampled for testing at least after 72 hours of manufacturing. Unless otherwise agreed, the test shall be conducted at least three times for each characteristic given in table 1 and Conditioning samples Unless otherwise agreed, the test specimens shall be conditioned for 2 hours at 27 C ± 2 C, and (65 ± 5%) relative humidity (RH) 8. Test report and rules of acceptance and rejection 8.1 Each consignment of sports footwear shall be accompanied by a certificate indicating its compliance with the requirements of this Draft Tanzania Standard. 8.2 The lot shall be considered conforming to the requirements of this Draft Tanzania Standard, if the samples representing it pass all the tests specified in this standard, otherwise, it shall be considered nonconforming. 10

ANNEX A CORROSION TEST A-1 Chemical 1% Sodium chloride solution. A-2 Test piece Three numbers of test pieces from the lot. A-3 Apparatus required A-3.1 Desiccator A-3.2 Air Circulating Oven A- PREPARATION OF SAMPLES A-.1 Soak a large piece of washed, bleached cotton fabric in the sodium chloride solution. A-.2 Allow the fabric to dry. A-.3 Cut the fabric up into small strips, approximately 6 cm 3 cm. A-. The metallic trims/components are wrapped in the fabric and bound with a thread to ensure contact. A-5 PROCEDURE A-5.1 Lay the dry test pieces in a dish. A-5.2 Place the dish in a desiccator with a little distilled water, and store for 3 days at 35 C. A-6 EVALUATION Visually examine the metallic trims/components for signs of corrosion and report. 11

ANNEX B COMPRESSION SET (STATIC) B-1 DESCRIPTION This method is used to measure the ability of a foam material to return to its original thickness after being Compressed/deflected between two parallel plates at a specified temperature and duration B-2 MATERIALS B-2.1 Midsole or Sockliner made of Foam Material B-3 EQUIPMENT B-3.1 Compression Apparatus B-3.2 Spacers, of thickness.0,.5, 5.0, 5.5 and 6.0 mm. B-3.3 Thickness Gauge, as described in TZS 205:198 B-3. Air-Circulating Oven, capable of maintaining 5.0 ± 1.0 C. B- SAMPLE PREPARATION Die cut four test samples having a diameter of 25. mm and a thickness of 10.0 ± 1.0 mm. The sample must be prepared with parallel top and bottom surfaces, and sides, which are perpendicular to the top and bottom surfaces. If a test sample is less than 8.0 mm, multiple layers of the test material must be stacked, without the use of adhesive, until a thickness of 10.0 ± 2.0 mm is obtained. B-5 REPETITIONS Test four samples per material. B-6 TEST PROCEDURE Measure the thickness of the samples. Place the appropriate spacers on the compression plate, such that 50 per cent compression will be obtained, as follows: Sample Thickness (mm)spacer Thickness (mm)

Place the test specimen onto the bottom plate and position the top plate onto the test specimen. Tighten the nuts on the test equipment until the top plate firmly contacts each of the spacers. With 15 min after compressing the samples, place the compression set equipment with test samples into their appropriate environment as described below: a) EVA, Latex, Polyethylene = 30 ± 2 C for 6 h b) Polyurethane = 23 ± 2 C for 22 h At completion of the exposure, immediately remove the test sample from the compression set equipment. Allow the materials to recover at 27 ± 2 C as described below: a) EVA, Latex, Polyethylene = 30 ± 2 min b) Polyurethane = 60 ± 2 min Immediately following the completion of the recovery period, measure the thickness of the samples, in the same manner described above. If the sample has set unevenly, record the minimum thickness. B-7 CALCULATION Compression set, in percentage = Original thickness Original thickness B-8 REPORT The average of the four test samples to the nearest 0.1 percent Final thickness Х
