2 Product description Properties of cured resin Aquanel H 2002 red version is an airdry water insulating varnish that has been formulated in order to reach the important qualities of economic efficiency, ease of use, ease of maintenance, low polluting fast cure and safety compliance. It meets most state, local and federal clean air standards. It is designed for use in applications where good bond strength, moisture and chemical resistance are required. Due to the high water content the product shows a very low flow time and therefore an excellent penetration ability. Dilution of the varnish can be carried out with tap or preferably distilled or demineralised water. For a correct management of the product, it will be necessary to observe carefully the viscosity and ph value. Polymerization is started by the effect of atmospheric oxygen and proceeds as a rapid chainreaction until a threedimensionally cross linked, duroplastic cured material is produced. Thermally approved Grade F Composition II Class 155 C. The product fulfils the directive 2011/65/UE e 2002/95/CE (RoHS). The raw materials of the product are preregistered according to directive to CE 1907/2006 and s.m.i. (REACH). The product does not contain polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and substances listed in the SVHC Candidate List. Non polluting and safety compliance Aquanel H 2002 is a medium solid varnish, the low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) per kg puts this VOC level in compliance with local clean air standard emissions. Relative advantages Low VOC Water reducible from 50 to 15% solid Thermal ratings up to 155 C No toxic fumes, spills clean easily with water. Areas of application Preferred applications for Aquanel H 2002 are: Motors Stators Coils impregnation The toughhard material has very good mechanical and dielectric properties even under high temperatures. Windings impregnated with Aquanel H 2002 show good bond strength. In addition, the cured material displays good resistance to the effects of liquid chemicals and their vapours. Flow time (viscosity) / Gel time Aquanel H 2002 is produced with a relative low viscosity cps measured with Brookfield equipment at 25 C. A regular circulation of the resin is recommended to get best results with reference to the filling content of the windings. Make up solvent Aquanel H 2002 solid reduces with tap or demineralised water. No cosolvent is necessary. For most applications the solid level should be reduced with tap water to approximately 2030%. Ph control The ph of Aquanel H 2002 should be kept between The ph may be adjusted by small additions of Ph corrector (DMEA Dimethylethanol Amine) of 0,51%. In some cases TEA (Triethylamine) may be replaced by DMEA; for further information consult our Elantas representative. Processing methods Aquanel H 2002 is used as a finishing varnish or as impregnating varnish. In the impregnating process it has to be carried out with a corresponding impregnating material. The flow time of airdrying varnish in opened container will increase permanently due to the evaporation of water, film forming can occur additionally. Therefore the containers should be closed carefully after each application, the flow time should be checked frequently and adapted with demineralised water if required. Like all water based products, Aquanel H 2002 should be stirred up carefully before each application. Aquanel H 2002 can be applied by dipping, brushing, with flow time when delivered. When it is used as spray, it is recommended to add 1020 % of water. Drying of the varnish will be at room temperature normally, time can be shortened by support of heat, for instance with hot air at 7090 C. It will be necessary to follow the instructions of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) of this product. Page 2 of 5 giugno 25, 2012 rev 1 Aquanel H /

3 Storage shelf life Due to the experience in practice the stability of the varnish is limited to 12 months in original packaging in a dry and controlled environment. After 6 months the material should be tested and evaluated in order to confirm the solubility and performance characteristics, especially if it has been exposed to different temperatures and/or outdoor exposure. This material should be stored between 5 25 C. It will solidify at temperatures below 0 C. For maximum performance do not allow material to freeze.
