1 MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET Supplier Information Manufacturer: SASKFERCO PRODUCTS INC. P.O. Box 39 Kalium Road Belle Plaine, Saskatchewan S0G 0G0 Telephone (306) Fax (306) Emergency Telephone (306) (24 hours) Issue Date: February 2004 Section 1 Product Identification Product Identifier: Urea Ammonium Nitrate CAS#: Uses: Fertilizer Formula: H 8 N 4 O 4 C Section 2 Hazardous Ingredients Chemical Name CAS # Weight % LC 50 (Inhalation) LD 50 (Oral) Urea % N/A 14,300 mg/kg Ammonium Nitrate % >88.8 mg/l > 2462 mg/kg bw

2 Section 3 Hazard Identification Emergency overview: Ingestion may interfere with the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood. Contact with the solution may be irritating to the eyes and skin. Extended exposure to the vapours may cause irritation to the nose and throat. If heated, this product may emit toxic nitrogen oxide vapours. Evaporation or drying of this product may result in ammonium nitrate forming, a strong oxidizer. Primary Routes of Entry: Skin Contact and Eye Contact Section 4 First Aid Measures FIRST AID PROCEDURES WHEN: In Contact With Eyes: In Contact With Skin: Inhaled: Ingested: Immediately flush eyes thoroughly for 15 minutes with running water. Hold eyelids open during flushing. Obtain medical attention. Wash with soap and water and seek medical attention if irritation persists. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Repeated or prolonged exposure to vapours may cause irritation to the respiratory tract. If irritation develops, remove to fresh air and monitor. If irritation or problems breathing persist, seek medical attention. If victim is alert, give them large quantities of water or milk. Induce vomiting and seek medical attention.

3 Section 5 Fire Fighting Measures Flash Point: Flammability: Auto ignition Point: LEL: UEL: Extinguishing media: Not Flammable Not Flammable Should not present a fire hazard unless evaporated to the point of dryness. Near dryness the product will act as an oxidizing agent, flood with water even well after the fire is extinguished. Special Fire Fighting Procedures: Explosive Data: A self-contained breathing apparatus should be worn in a fire involving the material. Toxic gas and vapor (NO x fumes and ammonia) may be released by decomposition. Not explosive Section 6 Accidental Release Measures Contain spill using dykes or other containment methods. Prevent solution from entering waterways. If there is local water source contamination, notify the relevant authorities. Recover any reusable product in containers for reuse or disposal. Section 7 Handling and Storage Storage: Handling Procedures and Equipment: Store in a cool, well-ventilated area away from combustible materials. Store below 100 C and above the freezing temperature, as this will cause crystallization of the product. Wash thoroughly after handling. UAN is mildly corrosive to carbon steel; avoid use of this material, unless the solution has been treated with an inhibitor.

4 Section 8 Exposure Controls/Personal Protection Ventilation: Eye Protection: Use with mechanical ventilation vented directly to outside. Use chemical safety goggles and a face shield where there is potential for eye contact. Respiratory Protection: Skin Protection: Other Precautions: No respiratory protection is normally required. Chemical gloves should be used to prevent skin irritation. Safety showers and eyewashes should be close to chemical handling area. EXPOSURE LIMITS: No exposure limits have been established for this product. Section 9 Physical and Chemical Properties Physical State: Liquid Appearance and Odor: Clear to cloudy Odor Threshold: Little to no detectable ammonia odour Boiling Point: Not Available Freezing Point: -2 C Vapour pressure: Not Available Density: 1320 kg/m 3 Molecular Weight: Octanol/Water Partition Coefficient: Not Available Water Solubility: Soluble in Water in all Concentrations ph: 7.5 Section 10 Stability and Reactivity Data Stability: Incompatibility: (Materials to Avoid) Hazardous products of decomposition: Stable UAN is corrosive to carbon steel unless inhibited. Decomposes to ammonia gas and nitrogen oxides.

5 Section 11 Toxicological Information Toxicological data is scarce for UAN solutions. Below is the toxicological information available for UAN and for ammonium nitrate and urea. UAN: Toxicological Data (Acute, 14day): LD 50 (rat, oral): >2,000 mg/kg bw Ammonium Nitrate: Toxicological Data (Acute, 4hr): LC 50 (rat, inhalation): >88.8 mg/l Toxicological Data (Repeated Dose): NOAEL (rat, 2 week, inhalation): 185 mg/m 3 Urea: Toxicological Data (Acute): Toxicological Data (Chronic): NOAEL (rat, 4 week, inhalation): 1 mg/m 3 LD 50 (oral, rat): mg/kg LD 50 (oral, mouse): mg/kg NOAEL (oral, mouse): 6750 mg/kg NOAEL (oral, rat): 2250 mg/kg (NOAEL: No Observable Adverse Effect Level) Carcinogenicity Data: Reproductive Effects: Mutagenicity Data: Teratogenicity Data: EFFECTS OF EXPOSURE WHEN: In Contact with Eyes: Inhaled: In Contact with Skin: Ingestion: Contact may cause minor irritation to the eyes. Prolonged exposure may cause respiratory irritation. May cause skin irritation. May cause irritation and burning in the mouth and throat. No other information is available. Section 12 Ecological Information Toxicological Data (Acute, 96 hr): LC 50 (fish): >103 mg/l Should be kept below 10 mg/l in drinking water, therefore is drinking water is contaminated, the
