1 Page 1/6 1 Identification of substance Product details 10/10/2007 Manufacturer/Supplier: Chroma Corporation 3900 Dayton Street McHenry, IL Contact Information: Sharon M Ehr Director of Color Technology & Quality Composition/Information on components Chemical Identification: This product is a mixture of polymer and colorants. Any hazardous ingredients are listed in appropriate sections. Additonal information: For the wording of the listed risk phrases refer to section Hazards identification Hazard description: This product (pellet concentrate) is not considered to be hazardous within the guidelines of the OSHA Hazard Communication Standards (29CFR ) since the ingredients remain "bound" within the polymer matrix and since, under "normal conditions of use" their utilization by purchasers and downstream workers should not result in exposure to any hazardous materials. Information pertaining to particular dangers for man and environment: Warning, molten material will cause thermal burns. If burned by contact with hot plastic, cool molten material adhering to skin as quickly as possible with cold water and see a physician for removal of adhering material and treatment of the burn. NOTE TO PHYSICIAN: BURNS SHOULD BE TREATED AS THERMAL BURNS. PRODUCT IS A POLYMER OF LOW TOXICITY; THEREFORE, THERE IS NO NEED TO REMOVE IT FROM THE SKIN BECAUSE OF CONCERN ABOUT TOXICITY. THE POLYMER WILL COME OFF AS HEALING OCCURS. Classification system: NFPA ratings (scale 0-4) Health = 0 Fire = 1 Reactivity = 0 HMIS-ratings (scale 0-4) HEALTH FIRE REACTIVITY Health = 0 Fire = 1 Reactivity = 0 4 First aid measures General information: Proper personal protection required. Avoid contact with molten material. Avoid breathing dust or fumes. (Contd. on page 2)

2 Page 2/6 (Contd. of page 1) After inhalation: It is judged that the colorants in these formulations are sufficiently encapsulated within the polymer matrix to minimize the release of levels of these materials considered to be hazardous during ordinary product handling and use. Dust and fumes may be harmful if inhaled. Seek medical treatment in case of complaints. After skin contact: After contact with the molten product, cool rapidly with cold water. Do not pull solidified product away from the skin. Seek medical treatment. After eye contact: Protect eyes from contact with material - wear safety goggles with side shields. Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. After swallowing: Not a normal route of exposure. If symptoms persist consult doctor. 5 Fire fighting measures Suitable extinguishing agents: CO2, extinguishing powder or water spray. Fight larger fires with water spray. Use fire fighting measures that suit the environment. Protective equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes. Wear protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes. Keep unprotected persons away. 6 Accidental release measures Person-related safety precautions: Ensure adequate ventilation Avoid formation of dust. Spilled material is a slip hazard mechanically collect leaked/spilled product, dispose of in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations. Keep away from ignition sources Use appropriate respiratory protective device against the effects of fumes/dust/aerosol. Wear protective clothing. Safety glasses/goggles with side shields. If in contact with molten material wear thermal resistant gloves. Measures for environmental protection: Do not allow product to reach sewage system or any water course. Do not allow to enter sewers/ surface or ground water. Measures for cleaning/collecting: Allow molten material to cool thoroghly and solidify. Pick up mechanically. Dispose of the collected material according to Federal, State and Local regulations. Additional information: No dangerous substances are released. (Contd. on page 3)

3 Page 3/6 (Contd. of page 2) 7 Handling and storage Handling: Information for safe handling: Store in cool, dry place in tightly closed receptacles to prevent contamination. Safety glasses / goggles with side shields, heat resistant gloves are recommended. Information about protection against explosions and fires: Substance/product is not self igniting, but may burn when in contact with flames. Refer to NFPA Pamphlet No. 654, Prevention of Fire and Dust Explosions in the Chemical, Dye, Pharmaceutical, and Plastics Industries, if this material is to be reduced to or collected as a powder. Storage: Requirements to be met by storerooms and receptacles: Store in tightly sealed receptacles. Keep away from heat & flame. Avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents. Information about storage in one common storage facility: Store away from oxidizing agents. Further information about storage conditions: Store in cool, dry conditions in well sealed receptacles. 8 Exposure controls and personal protection Additional information about design of technical systems: No further data; see item 7. Components with limit values that require monitoring at the workplace: Not required. Additional information: The lists that were valid during the creation were used as basis. Personal protective equipment: General protective and hygienic measures: Good industrial hygiene practices should be followed which includes minimizing skin contact and avoid contact with eyes. Wash hands and face before eating, drinking, smoking or breaks and at the end of work. Avoid skin contact with the molten material. Breathing equipment: Good general ventilation (typically 10 air changes per hour) should be sufficient to control airborne levels. Ventilation rates should be matched to conditions. Supplementary local exhaust ventilation or respiratory protection may be needed in special circumstances such as mechanical generation of dusts, heating, etc. Suitable respiratory protective device recommended if conditions require. Protection of hands: Heat resistant gloves and arm protection to protect against burns from molten materials. Material of gloves The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. As the product is a preparation of several substances, the resistance of the glove material can not be calculated in advance and has therefore to be checked prior to the application. Eye protection: Safety glasses, goggles or full face shield recommended as protection. Body protection: Protective work clothing 9 Physical and chemical properties General Information Form: Plastic pellets, granules or ground powder. (Contd. on page 4)
