What is Nichigo G-Polymer? The World s first highly AMORPHPOUS vinyl alcohol copolymer Having the strong points of both PVOH & EVOH polymers with superior performance and additional benefits!! PVOH Water-soluble High Gas Barrier Disperse ability Reactivity Biodegradability Nichigo G-Polymer TM RAPIDLY SOLUBLE IN COLD WATER! VERY HIGH GAS BARRIER! OIL & SOLVENT RESISTANT! ORIENTABLE & SHRINKABLE! HIGHLY TRANSPARENT! BIODEGRADABLE & COMPOSTABLE! EVOH Extrudable Gas Barrier Oil Resistance 5
What is Nichigo G-Polymer? Renewable Recourses Renewable & Biodegradabale Biopolymer Renewable Biopolymer Biodegradable Biodegradable Biopolymer Nichigo G-Polymer Conventional Polymers Non-degradable Petrochemical 6
Nippon Gohsei s G-Technology Using our state-of the-art G-Technology we can precisely control the crystallinity of the vinyl alcohol polymer while keeping high gas barrier properties! Semi Crystalline SoarnoL EVOH Amorphous Nichigo G-Polymer G-Technology 7
Barrier Properties of NICHIGO G-Polymer 8
Oxygen Barrier vs other Resins Temperature: 23 ºC Nichigo G-Polymer has more than 50 times better OTR compared to EVOH under dry condition. 9
Oxygen Barrier Properties Nichigo G-Polymer has the highest oxygen gas barrier property of all extrudable polymers under 60% RH! 10
Water Solubility Properties of NICHIGO G-Polymer 11
Water Solution of NICHIGO G-Polymer time [sec] G-Polymer OKS-8049P 30µm Stirred by 300rpm C 20 C 40 C 80 C Temperature breaking time dissolution time Nichigo G-Polymer TM dissolved very quickly even at the low temperature water 12

Water Solution of NICHIGO G-Polymer Excellent dissolution in water 100% Perfect dissolution Nichigo G-Polymer TM 80% D issolution(%) 60% 40% PVOH Nichigo G-Polymer TM undissolved materials 20% 0% Tim e (M inutes) Conventional PVOH Increasing Temp. :30 -> 80 degree C (10 degree C/ min) Solid content : 6% 14
Biodegradability/Compostability of NICHIGO G-Polymer 15
Compostability Compostability of Nichigo G-Polymer confirmed by EU standards EN no. 7W0219 Samples at test start Disintegration test finished 16
Biodegradability & Regulations DIN CERTCO registered Biodegradability certified to EU standard EN Compostability certified to EU standards EN REACH : Pre-registered Food contact approval European Commission Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 including its amendment Commission Regulation (EU)No 1282/2011 FDA compliance indirect food contact, 21CFR
Compostable High Barrier Food Packaging with NICHIGO G-Polymer 18
Extrusion Properties Due to its amorphous nature G-Polymer has many advantages over conventional PVOH and other Specialty PVOH resins Extrudable with wide temperature processing window Excellent oxygen barrier properties at lower humidity Has good long run stability Can extrude a higher MW product 19
Extrudability of Nichigo G-Polymer TM PVOH, due to its high melting point cannot be extruded in the neat state In case of G-Polymer, the difference between melting point and decomposition temperature is large. Therefore, G-Polymer can be extruded without significant decomposition. Decomposition temp. Temp. Melting point Melting point Process window PVOH G-Polymer 20
Biodegradable Gas Barrier Packaging Biodegradable Bio-plastics are beginning to be used for food packaging. Food packaging normally requires gas barrier property for longer shelf-life. Multi-layer co-extrusion of Biodegradable Bioplastics and Nichigo G-Polymer can meet the new market-needs. Examples of Fully biodegradable packaging: PLA // G-Polymer // PLA PBS // G-Polymer // PBS Paper // G-Polymer // PLA 21
Biodegradable adhesive resin BTR-8002P BTR-8002P is designed as a biodegradable adhesive resin for Nichigo G-Polymer in PLA and other biopolymer multi layer structures With the addition of BTR-8002P high barrier compostable packaging is now possible 22
Biodegradable adhesive resin ØDevelopment of biodegradable adhesive resin by Nippon Gohsei BTR-8002P Properties Unit Value MFR 1) Volatile Matter Melting Point 2) g/10min % 2 4 < ): Measured with Melt Indexer, 210 C, 2160g 2): Measured with DSC, heating and cooling rate 10 /min 23
Adhesive strength of BTR-8002P Co-extrusion conditions (5 extruder, 5 layer cast film system) Structure: PLA/Adh/ Nichigo G-Polymer /Adh/PLA (30/10/20/10/30µm) PLA : Ingeo 4032D Nichigo G-Polymer : OKS-8049P Adhesive : BTR-8002P Peel Test: Condition : 15mm Width, 300 mm/min, 23 degree C 50 or 90%RH Peel point : Interface of BTR-8002P and Nichigo G-Polymer layer After 4 weeks storage Good adhesive strength between Nichigo G-Polymer and BTR-8002P bio adhesive at the interface!! 24

Application (Packaging) New multi-functional packaging FILMS, CAPSULES, TRAYS & CONTAINERS, BOTTLES, etc. By extrusion or solution coating with : High gas barrier properties! Biodegradability & compostability! Ø If used with PLA or other Bio resins Possibility to wash-away the Nichigo G-Polymer barrier layer from scraps thanks to it s rapid dissolution in cold water! Ø For easier recycling 26
