2 OVERVIEW OF OUR METAL POWDERS The following document contains details of the various Osprey alloy families manufactured by Sandvik. If there is an alloy of interest that does not appear in the list, please contact our sales department for details on availability. The majority of alloys listed are based on ASTM standards. These can also be provided in accordance with other regional standards such as the European EN standards. Please check with our sales department for more details. The chemical composition of these alloys can be adjusted and refined to suit individual customer requirements. 7 Particle Size Distribution In our flexible atomizing facilities we are capable of manufacturing high quality metal powder in an extremely wide range of particle size distributions, up to 250 μm. In particular, Sandvik has developed proprietary technology specifically designed for the production of fine powder, less than 38 μm. Different applications require different particle size distributions. In the context of Metal Injection Moulding (MIM) Sandvik offers the following standard particle size ranges: typical particle size distributions* Particle size distribution (µm) D 10 (%) D 50 (%) D 90 (%) % % % *Values measured using Malvern laser diffraction method of particle analysis. For other applications please contact our sales offices to discuss the recommended particle size ranges in more detail. Tailor-made particle size distributions are also available on request.
