1 DuMaster D-480 Technical data sheet Routine analysis of nitrogen and protein requires modern instruments that guarantee troublefree and unattended long time operation. As one of the most compact and powerful Dumas analyzer the DuMaster D-480 fulfills these requirements everyday. High sample throughput and flexibility are combined in a unique and effective manner. Featuring the novel Regainer-Reductor system the price per analysis decreases by up to 50 % compared to similar devices.

2 Scope of delivery The scope of delivery consists of the instrument including operating software, 60 position sample plate, as well as all other parts needed for the installation. Additionally, the PC is required to operate the instrument. Apart from copper oxide and the drying agent Sicapent all chemicals required for the initial filling of the tubes are also part of the shipment. The Regainer does not only bind excess oxygen in the analysis gas, but also automatically regenerates the reducing agent being consumed in the course of the process. The lifetime of one combustion tube filling is around 000 analyses, for the post combustion containing the Regainer 000 and the pre-filled Reductor tube up to 000 analyses. 7 Functional principle The Dumas method for nitrogen determination is based on quantitative combustion in excess oxygen. Nitrogen from the sample is transformed to molecular nitrogen. The novel Regainer catalyst binds excess oxygen in the analysis gas without any need of reduction metals and regenerates the consumed reducing agents in the Reductor. In the pre-filled Reductor tube the nitric oxides are reduced to nitrogen while the reduction agent is automatically regenerated. After condensation and 3-step drying, the carrier gas CO transfers the analysis gases to the thermoconductivity detector (TCD) and nitrogen gives a signal which is displayed as a peak. The instrument software calculates the nitrogen content by integrating the peak area. For the calculation of the protein concentration generally accepted protein factors are used. The DuMaster D-480 features an automatic at-the-spot oxygen injection for the combustion which saves up to 95 % oxygen. A sampler that accommodates 60 (optionally 0) samples without stacking, in connection with unique blank-free ball valve injection guarantees absolute stable round-the-clock operation. By analysing the whole gas stream without splitting, sensitivity is increased. The carrier gas (CO ) eliminates the need to absorb CO generated during the combustion process. The novel Regainer-Reductor system allows for approx. 000 analyses without exchange or maintenance and minimizes down times remarkably.
