(4 marks) (5) Explain how you could extract Silver Metal from a solution of Silver Nitrate using Copper Wire. Write a word equation to help with your description. (4 marks) (6) Iron can be extracted in industry using a Blast Furnace. This uses carbon in the form of coke to react with Iron (III) Oxide under very hot temperatures. In the furnace, three reactions occur: a) carbon reacts with oxygen to make carbon dioxide b) carbon reacts with carbon-dioxide to make carbon-monoxide c) carbon monoxide reacts with iron (III) oxide to make Iron and carbon-dioxide. The symbols for these things are as follows: Carbon = C; Oxygen = O 2; Carbon-dioxide = CO 2; Carbonmonoxide = CO and iron (III) oxide = Fe 2O 3 Write a BALANCED symbol equation for reaction a) Write a BALANCED symbol equation for reaction b) Page 7 of 17
