2 PVDF, PVDF-HP and PFA plastic materials with high purity and excellent corrosion resistance PVDF-HP (high purity) and PFA are produced under extreme closely controlled conditions of purity, using carefully selected raw materials. The production plants have been specially designed for the manufacture of maximum purity fluoroplastic products. Fields of application The material`s excellent welding characteristics and thermoform ability enables it to be fabricated in an easy and economic way. High purity PVDF-HP and PFA products are used in particular for pipeline systems, storage and transit tanks as well as for apparatus: In the semi-conductor industry In production and for transport of ultra-high-purity water and high-purity acids In biotechnology In pharmaceutical and food processing industries In corrosion protection in the chemical process industry ECTFE and ETFE, the plastics with excellent resistance to alkaline media Fields of application This ethylenechlorotrifluorethylene copolymer ECTFE is noted for excellent resistance to concentrated chemicals as well as outstanding mechanical properties. ECTFE is the ideal complement to the proven PVDF in corrosion protection. PVDF FLEX SYMALIT PVDF-FLEX is an outstanding alternative to the conventional fluoropolymers. In the processing sector, significant rationalisation effects can be achieved due to increased flexibility, especially for systems glued on steel, but also for tight space conditions or small radii for the FRP reinforcement. Application examples Lining of reactors and tanks Containers for chemicals Cellulose and paper industries Chlorine electrolysis FEP, MFA and PFA, plastics with excellent resistance to chemicals, high and low temperatures Fields of application for FEP, MFA and PFA These materials, which can be welded and thermoformed Fields of application by using conventional This ethylenetetrafluorethylene copolymer recommended for chemical equipment, are specially is used for components and plant and storage tanks for linings in the steel industry. maximum purity applications ETFE is resistant against the (PFA) and for extreme most mineral acids, inorganic corrosion protection. 3 SYMALIT ECTFE-Products and SYMALIT ETFE-Products ECTFE and ETFE are thermoplastic fluorocarbons, which, as a result of their outstanding price/performance ratio, are becoming increasingly important in systems and apparatus construction. Their excellent welding capability and thermoplastic formability make possible simple and cost-saving processing, both on-site and in the workshop (colour: natural). Delivery programme ECTFE Pipes Fabric backed pipes and fittings Semi-finished products (lining laminates, sheets, rods, welding rods) Symalit ECTFE properties Very high resistance against highly-concentrated chemicals Extremely low permeation rate High elongation at break Good resistance to stress cracking, even with caustic solutions, chlorine and alkaline environments Thermal stability in the range -76 to +160 C (-105 to +160 F) Excellent resistance to weather and radiation Convenient electrical characteristics Low coefficient of thermal expansion Symalit ETFE properties Stability in temperature from -190 to +155 C (-310 to +311 F) Better chemical resistance than ECTFE Mechanical and technical features correspond to those of ECTFE Excellent weather proof and radiation proof Low water adsorption Excellent resistance of abrasion Delivery programme ETFE Lining laminates Welding rods

4 SYMALIT Products from FEP, MFA and PFA We have many years of experience in the processing of fluorocarbon thermoplastics. Our products are manufactured in Lenzburg, Switzerland, using ultramodern methods. In this way, we guarantee a constant high level of quality and a rapid delivery of our FEP is a thermoplastic fluorocarbon with the same resistance to chemicals as PTFE. The material can be used between -190 and +205 C (-310 to +400 F). Certain processes, such as adhesion and FRP reinforcement, can however significantly reduce the permissible temperature limits. The SYMALIT FEP lining laminates are manufactured in the economical working width of 1.25 m. products, which are tailor-made to respective application. The product can be thermoformed into complicated parts, such as embossed bases and flanges, and can be welded using SYMALIT FEP welding rods and standard fabricating equipment without problem. It is ideally suited to both the lining of steel parts and to reinforcement using glass-fibre reinforced resins. New and replacement linings expertly carried out by authorised processors increase safety and reliability. Delivery programme FEP Pipes Fabric backed pipes and fittings Semi-finished products (lining laminates, sheets, rods, welding rods) The materials MFA and PFA differ from FEP as follows: The temperature application range is higher (up to +260 C possible with PFA, up to +225 C with MFA 500) Suitable for the highest ultrapure requirements (PFA) Even higher resistance to stress cracking than FEP and elongated life times Purity and temperature stability open new application markets: semiconductor technology, pharmaceutical industries, biotechnology, heavy-duty corrosion protection, flue gas treatment etc. Delivery programme MFA and PFA Pipes and fabric backed pipes and fittings (PFA) Semi-finished products (lining laminates, sheets, rods, welding rods)

5 SYMALIT PVDF and PVDF FLEX Symalit PVDF Specialities SYMALIT PVDF FLEX SYMALIT PVDF Pipes and fittings, HV-liners with pretreated surfaces for direct FRP reinforcement SYMALIT PVDF GK sheets are laminated on one side with three-dimensional, formable Due to its construction as a copolymer of vinyliden fluoride (VF2) and hexafluoropropylene (HFP), application areas are opened up in which normal PVDF homopolymers can no longer be used. SYMALIT PVDF- Standard Quality The facts speak for themselves: PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) is increasingly gaining in importance in system and apparatus construction. One of the reasons is certainly the outstanding price-performance ratio. Of crucial importance, however, are the excellent welding characteristics and the thermoplastic formability. Simple, cost-saving processing is possible thanks to these two factors both on-site and in the workshop. The advantages include: Remarkable resistance to chemicals (acidic and neutral media) High purity grade available Extremely good mechanical characteristics (PVDF Standard) Excellent abrasion resistance Excellent ageing stability Resistant to UV-, β- and γ- radiation The material is particularly suitable for corrosion prevention, load bearing structures and equipment in chemical process industry. bonding agents from a synthetic special textile SYMALIT PVDF FLEX GK products facilitate the workability in steel lining due to their increased flexibility SYMALIT PVDF ESD is a conductive grade of SYMALIT PVDF (surface resistivity IEC93 < 10 6 Ohm) The reason is an significantly improved stress-cracking resistance (e.g., with caustic soda, highly concentrated sulphuric acid, sodium chlorate, sodium hypochloride). Particularly for welded, thermoformed designs in stationary and mobile system parts, as well as in the transport sector, the improved stresscracking resistance becomes more important. SYMALIT PVDF-HP (High Purity) All HP products are subject to a strictly defined test with regard to material and surface conditions. The HP quality is used in the semiconductor, pharmaceutical and foodstuffs industries, among others (colour: natural). Delivery programme Pipes and fittings HV liner pipes and fittings Semi-finished products (lining laminates, sheets, rods, welding rods) HP and ESD grades
