4 Maxidrill a family of superstars for all applications 3 x D State-of-the-art drill and chip flute design guarantee maximum rigidity for drilling without deviation. Reduction in cutting noise. 2 x D 3 x D variable application of the insert family in all drilling tools low cutting forces 1,5 x D 2 x D Optimum compensation of radial forces prevents the drill axis from running off-centre. Also larger drilling depths into full material can be produced economically maintaining the qualtiy of the hole. Safety precautions Using a fixed drill and a rotating work piece in case of bores a sharp disc will result. Safety precautions must be observed. A safety guard has to be provided as protection. rotating applications (machining centres, transfer lines) fixed applications (turning lathes, production cells) 4 4

6 Maxidrill first choice for rotating applications short hole drills with helical chip flute 2xD 14 17,5 mm optimum compensation of radial forces β 3xD mm helical chip flute: low deflection optimum chip evacuation Possibly occurring transverse forces are absorbed without problems. γ γ β F22 F12 F21 F 11 F A2 F A1 F 22 F 12 F A1, 2 = feed force In stable conditions and with a flat surface of the work piece you can drill with maximum feed. (cutting data values see page 36-37) When the drill enters the convex work piece surface the central insert cuts first. Normally there are no difficulties with this application. When the drill enters oblique or concave work piece surfaces the peripheral insert cuts first. It is recommended to reduce the feed by approx. 30 % for this application. In case of drill exit on oblique work piece surfaces, reduce the feed by 30 %. Q P c = k c 60 0 η F12 F22 FA2 F 11 FA1 F21 Reduce the feed when the drill enters the transverse hole. With transverse bores you should drill from both sides if possible. F 12 F

7 Maxidrill first choice for fixed applications short hole drills with straight chip flute 1,5xD mm optimum compensation of radial forces β 3xD mm In case of fixed applications the drill must be set concentrically to the machine axis. Holes, which are larger than the nominal diameter, can only be produced when machining parallel to the edge in direction of the exterior cutting edge. γ γ β F22 F12 F21 F 11 F A2 F A1 F 22 F 12 F A1, 2 = feed force drilling into full material off-centre drilling into full material X max feed for longitudinal turning longitudinal turning, external a p max = 0,2 x inner circle of indexable insert (d) longitudinal turning, internal a p max = 0,2 x inner circle of indexabel insert (d) insert size d ca ¼ D feed for face turning face turning a p max = 0,3 mm at inner circle of indexable insert d = 5,5 mm, d = 6 mm, d = 8 mm a p max = 0,6 mm at inner circle of indexable insert d = 10 mm, d = 12 mm 02 5,5 03 6,0 05 8, , ,0 Safety precautions Using a fixed drill and a rotating work piece in case of bores a sharp disc will result.
