The WIDIA VariTap is the next generation of highperformance tapping for various materials and manufacturing environments. Target Application The VariTap continues the success story of the WIDIA Vari family of round tools: one tool that can do the job where typically several application specific tools would be needed. With its optimized geometry, the VariTap is capable of working with a wide variety of ductile materials including carbon and alloy steels, stainless steels, ductile iron and cast aluminum, while providing low torque and superior reliability. This new tool reduces inventory cost without losing the benefit of high-quality finish and consistent tool life. With this profile, the VariTap is the perfect solution for machining centers with smaller lot sizes and changing materials as well as high volume production. With a wide range of inch and metric standard sizes, pitch diameter limits, classes of fit, chamfer styles, and coatings, the new VariTap offers the most expansive portfolio of multipurpose taps available on the market. The current EM-SS taps will become a part of the VariTap family; you can expect the same consistency, same price level and discount structure, with the addition of hundreds of new sizes, H limits and coatings to expand our market share. Appearance and Packaging VariTap packaging will use the standard clear snap-pack ANSI & DIN/ANSI will be in WIDIA-GTD 6 and 3 packs depending on size.

September 1, 2013 All DIN, JIS, DIN/ANSI will be available to order and in stock. Product Life Cycle Management (PLCM) The EM-SS product line will be available until stock is depleted, cross reference list will be send to all distributors, will be available on the web, CAS and customer service. Every time an EM-SS is out of stock customers will be directed to VariTap.
