The initil work of the tsk group involved ompiling essentil vriles from other similr welding stndrds inluding AS/NZS , CSA Z662, DNV OS F101 nd ASME B&PV Se. IX. The group then met over series of meetings to disuss eh essentil vrile identified from eh stndrd. Two key points were identified when evluting eh essentil vrile. 1. To e onsidered n essentil vrile for weld proedure development it needs to impt the mehnil properties of the weld. Items identified to impt prodution or welder skill requirements were determined to not e n essentil vrile for weld proedure development. 2. When reviewing n essentil vrile from other stndrds we need to ontinully hek to ensure we re not dding two essentil vriles to ddress the sme onern. The essentil vriles tht urrently exist in setion 5.4 were reviewed using the tehnil knowledge of the group while referening the pprohes of other stndrds. The dditionl essentil vriles from other stndrds were lso onsidered for relevne nd potentil s new essentil vriles for setion 5.4. During our evlutions it ws identified tht the work of the tsk group hd onsiderle synergies with the tsk group evluting the essentil vriles within setion 12. A meeting ws held to disuss joint effort to ddress eh essentil vrile. This ws determined to e neessry to ensure uniformity within the speifition oth from tehnil perspetive s well s in formtting nd style. To split the work the essentil vrile tsk groups (5.4 nd 12) hve reted 4 su tsk groups to tkle the essentil vrile groupings of mterils, onsumles, eletril hrteristis nd method. There is lso work s n oversight ommittee to estlish riteri for lyout nd formt in order to ensure onsisteny.
