3 Product Specification rev.4 Back to Content 3 What is GRP/FRP? GRP (Glass-reinforced plastic) or FRP (Fiber-reinforced plastic) is a composite material made of a polymer matrix reinforced with fibers. The polymer is usually an epoxy, vinyl ester, or polyester thermosetting plastic. The fibers are usually fiberglass or other similar fibers. Composite plastics are result from bonding several homogeneous materials with different material properties to derive a product with mechanically strength, corrosion resistance, light weight and elasticity. Benefits of GRP Corrosion and Chemical Resistance GRP Gratings is particularly designed to provide safe, long- lasting, economical and worry- free s in environments where chemicals and other corrosives attack metal, wood and similar materials. Corrosion is a major problem within industries such as chemical, steel, food and beverage, water and wastewater, power- the list goes on. GRP Gratings is particularly designed to provide safe, longlasting, economical and worry- free s in environments where chemicals and other corrosives attack metal, wood and similar materials. Depending on the environment, resins such as orthophthalic polyester, isophthalic polyester, vinylester or phenolic may be used in the construction of our GRP products. High strength - to- weight ratio It is integrally constructed for strength, and is less than one- half the weight of steel grating allowing easy removal for access and installation with no heavy equipment and reduced manual handling risks. GRP Gratings is manufactured as a composite of continuous fiberglass strands and high quality resin. I tis integrally constructed for strength, and is less than one- half the weight of steel grating allowing easy removal for access and installation with no heavy equipment and reduced manual handling risks. Properly installed, GRP Gratings meets specified load requirements for steel and is more impact resistant than metal. Fire resistance Special fire retardant requirements can be met with extra additives. Impact resistance The impact resistance of GRP Gratings allows repeated deflection without permanent deformation. A certain amount of deflection can occur with loading. Unlike metal grating fiberglass has a good memory, so once the object is removed the Fiberglass Grating will fully recover to its original position. Ergonomic GRP Gratings is an excellent to ease the strain on the back, feet and legs of workers. Its natural slight resiliency makes it comfortable to stand on for long periods of time thus reducing worker fatigue. Slip-resistant GRP Gratings is available with a concave or gritted surface, both offer outstanding slip resistance in wet and oily environments and have consistently reduced slips and falls in industrial facilities. Life Span More than years of useful life is guaranteed for GRP Gratings Maintenance Free Install it and forget about it. GRP Gratings is easy to clean. Its open mesh permits debris to fall through the grating panel preventing a hazardous build-up on the walking surface. It is corrosion resistant ant the color remains fast due to it is ultraviolet resistant properties. Cost effectiveness Initial purchase cost of FRP Grating compares favorably with steel grating but the real saving is made on the superior life expectancy and zero maintenance costs. Also installation costs are usually less than that of steel grating.

5 Product Specification rev.4 Back to Content 5 G Gratings open mesh GRP Gratings are produced in special matrix molds. The grating consists of three main components: Resin Mix, Fiberglass, Pigments. The percentage of resin and fiberglass - 70% to 30%. Fiberglass is located in TWO directions. After the material hardens, the GRP gratings are pressed out of the mold. G Surface finishes Type of surface: C Concave Open Mesh GRP Gratings Concave Open Mesh Grating is more suited to low foot traffic areas and is particularly suitable for hygiene applications where a high standard of slip resistance is needed and ease of cleaning is a consideration. The Concave surface - original type of grating surface which has curves inwards during the thermosetting process. The concave edges received at by this process ensure good anti slip properties. Type of surface: G Gritted Open Mesh Gratings The GRITTED surface is applied to the concave surface together with a resin. Grit Type: Silica sands containing> 98% SiO2. Gritted gratings in top are painted with vinyl ester mix. Type of surface: EC Electrically Conductive Open Mesh Gratings Electrically Conductive Open Mesh Gratings is formulated with a carbon black surface, eliminating hazardous static electricity when properly grounded. Available in all resin finishes, Gratings are primarily used in the high-tech electronic industries, munitions and arsenal manufacturing plants and other spark sensitive environments where sophisticated equipment may be damaged due to static electricity. Conductive gritted GRP Gratings have been developed to drain off the build-up of dangerous static electricity in applications where static electricity present safety concerns. Top layer: Vinyl Ester mix with 20% Graphite in black color. Electric strength: < 60 * 103 Ω /m Type of surface: S Smooth Open Mesh Gratings Open Mesh Gratings with a polished smooth surface are often used in applications where anti-slip properties are unnecessary, for example for fencing or decoration. The Gratings is polished after manufacturing.

The load is applied at the center of a full panel, which is supported on two sides. Gratings supported on 3 or 4 sides will have less deflection. This table is only valid for the uncut panels. In case other deflections are specified, just multiply the specified percentage deflection with the 1% load data. UNIFORM LOAD There are data of uniform load data for two s ides supported grating at a certain span: - the given data is for a deflection of 1 % the max. recoended load ultimate capacity. - This data is also valid for panels which are cut. In case other deflections are specified, just multiply the specified percentage deflection with the 1% load data to determine the max. load. To calculate the deflections at max. recoended and ultimate capacity the same calculation method can be used. Deflection is proportional with load. LINE LOAD The data in this table gives a 1% deflection for a wide strip of 305 width. The load is applied at the center of this strip. This data will be used to determine the deflection on cutted panels for concentrated loads, supported on two sides. For gratings with a larger width, the load can easily be calculated by multiplying the width with the given load, divided by 305. 15 Product Specification rev.4 Back to Content 15 The molding and curing of covered gratings can produce internal stresses that may cause the panel to warp. In some cases, this warp age may increase when covered panels are cut into smaller pieces. In certain situations, this out-of-flat condition can result in tripping hazards and other problems. This is one of the reasons we strongly recoend the use of hold down methods, such as clips. In situations where hold-down procedures are not possible, we do not recoend covered panels. 21 Product Specification rev.4 Back to Content 21 P Plates GRP Plates are produced in special molds with flat surface. The plates consists of three main components: Resin Mix, Fiberglass fabric, Pigments (mixing of pigment and resin). P Surface finishes Type of surface: G GRP Plates with Gritted Top The GRITTED surface is applied together with a resin. Grit Type: Silica sands containing> 98% SiO2. Gritted top are painted with vinyl ester mix. Type of surface: EC GRP Plates with Electrically Conductive Top GRP Plates with Electrically Conductive Top is formulated with a carbon black surface, eliminating hazardous static electricity when properly grounded. Available in all resin finishes, GRP Plates are primarily used in the high-tech electronic industries, munitions and arsenal manufacturing plants and other spark sensitive environments where sophisticated equipment may be damaged due to static electricity. Conductive gritted GRP Plates have been developed to drain off the build-up of dangerous static electricity in applications where static electricity present safety concerns. Top layer: Vinyl Ester mix with 20% Graphite in black color. Electric strength: < 60 * 103 Ω /m Type of surface: S GRP Plates with Smooth Top GRP Plates with a polished smooth surface are often used in applications where anti-slip properties are unnecessary, for example for fencing or decoration. The GRP Plates is polished after manufacturing.

GS Galvanised steel Clips are made from Galvanised Steel. For any installation in an environment without high corrosion risks. Galvanized steel has a much shorter lifespan when it's regularly exposed to rain or seawater. A2 Stainless Steel A2 type Clips are made from A2 stainless steel (1.4301, AISI 304). A2 stainless steel the most coon grade of stainless steel. A2 austenitic stainless steel has a good corrosion resistance in normal atmospheric circumstances, in wet environments, oxydizing and organic acids, many alcalic and salt s or seawater. This stainless steel type has an percentage of chromium and nickel of 18/8 and is the most coon stainless steel type. A4 Stainless Steel A4 type Clips are made from A4 stainless steel (1.4401, AISI 316). A4 stainless steel the second most coon grade of stainless steel, represents the most corrosion-resistant steelgroup also referred to as "acid-proof". It is also known as marine grade stainless steel due to its increased resistance to chloride corrosion compared to type A2. It has therefore a better resistance against aggressive media such as seawater, chlorides, oxidizing acids etc.
