1 Materials Pricing Report 3 November 212 Market overview Recovered paper and board prices are broadly stable with slight increases in mixed paper and OCC grades. Demand from China is expected to remain low until the end of the year with demand for finished product weaker than expected for the time of year HDPE plastic bottle grades fell by 1 per tonne while other recovered plastic bottle and film grade prices are stable Non-ferrous metal grade prices rose by up to 5 per tonne reflecting higher primary metal prices. Ferrous metal grade prices are stable with demand from Europe reportedly weak. Despite the slight increase in prices for these two paper grades, merchants generally expect prices to continue to fall. Chinese mills are reportedly not looking to replenish current low inventory levels until early 213. Market anecdote suggests demand for finished product is currently weaker than expected for the time of year. All other recovered paper grade prices are unchanged. All other recovered plastic bottle and film grade prices are stable. Market participants report that domestic demand for recovered plastic bottles has been fairly strong over the past month. Meanwhile, export prices are reported to have declined over the past week due to poor export demand from Turkey and other parts of Europe. Copper dry bright wire prices also rose by 5 per tonne to 4,2 per tonne. 18/8 stainless steel solid prices rose by 1 per tonne to 68 per tonne. Prices for all of these metals have increased due to stronger primary metal prices over the past month. In contrast, lead battery prices are stable at 475 per tonne with primary lead prices relatively stable over the past month. Merchants report that the supply of batteries is low for the time of year.
