1 PFA Coatings Primers Low-Build Topcoat High-Build Topcoat Black Green Brown Clear Green MP-310 Clear MP-610 Black Powder, Clear Powder, Ruby Red Liquid, Ruby Red Description PFA is the newest member of the DuPont family of high performance fluorocarbon coatings with excellent chemical stability, electrical properties and mechanical strength for use in high and low temperature environments. systems (up to 1300 µm, 50 mils) for linings where the ultimate chemical protection is required. Thick-film TEFLON PFA coatings have been improved for application in thicker films per coat. The application technique involves a "Spray & Bake" procedure whereby multiple coats, sprayed and baked individually, are used to achieve the desired final film thickness. The resulting finish is tough, seamless and without pinholes - perfect for applications in harsh chemical environments. The very good chemical inertness of TEFLON PFA also makes it ideal for applications where maintaining product purity is critical. The TEFLON PFA and are special filled grades with a very high resistance against water vapour permeation. In an Atlas cell test with boiling water, after 1 year of exposure no blisters, bubbles or delamination could be found, even if only applied in 350µ thickness. The TEFLON PFA products listed above represent an expanded family of products based on new, improved formulations of PFA resins. Using appropriate product combinations, coating systems are now available for use in a wide variety of applications - ranging from thin-film systems ( µm, 3-10 mils) for service involving abrasion resistance or mild chemical service, to thick-film The TEFLON PFA MP-610 is a conductive topcoat, with a surface resistivity of 10exp4-5 Ω/square when measured on aluminium panels without a primer. The PFA MP-310 gives an ultrasmooth clear finish to the coating, whereas and can also be used as a final topcoat over the filled and products in order to avoid the filler to come in contact with processing fluids or solids.

2 Atlas Cell testing Atlas cell is a test that allows estimating the resistance of a coating put in contact with a given chemical at a given temperature. The picture hereunder describes the test. The coating is applied on the inside of the panels, which close the glass pipe. A thermometer and a heating element control the temperature. As you can see, the coating is exposed to both a liquid and a vapour phase. Visual inspection is done every week. After 720 hrs (+/-1 month), the test is stopped and adhesion is tested In-use and laboratory testing are ongoing to determine the permeation resistance against a whole range of chemicals.
