3 Select pumped liquid Selection based on pumped liquid The selection table below is intended as a general guide for material resistance (at room temperature), and does not replace testing of the chemicals and pump materials under specific working conditions. The data shown are based on information from various sources available, but many factors (purity, temperature, abrasive particles, etc.) may affect the chemical resistance of a given material. Application group Description Pumped liquid (0 C) Chemical formula Concentration (%) Dosing head Materials Gaskets Ball Hose Aluminium chloride AlCl 0 % Aluminium sulphate Al (SO ) 60 % Calcium hydroxide* Ca(OH) saturated Copper sulphate CuSO 0 % Ferric chloride* FeCl 00 % Ferric sulphate* Fe (SO ) 00 % Ferrous chloride FeCl 00 % Ferrous sulphate FeSO 50 % Hydrochloric acid HCl up to 7 % Hydrogen peroxide* H O 0 % PP or PVC FKM (V) PVC/PE Sodium chlorate NaClO 0 % Sodium chloride NaCl 0 % Sodium chlorite NaClO 0 % Sodium sulphide Na S 0 % Sodium sulphite Na SO 0 % Sodium thiosulfate Na S O 0 % Sulphurous acid H SO 6 % Acetic Acid CH COOH up to 60 % Ammonia, aqueous NH OH 8 % Potassium hydroxide KOH 50 % Potassium permanganate KMnO 0 % PP or PVC EPDM (E) PVC/PE Sodium hydroxide NaOH up to 50 % Calcium hypochlorite Ca(OCl) 0 % Chromic acid H CrO up to 50 % Nitric acid HNO up to 0 % Sodium hypochlorite* NaOCI to 5 % PVC FKM (V) PVC/PE Sulphuric acid* H SO up to 96 % Acetic acid CH COOH 85 % Fluosilicic acid H SiF 6 0 % Nitric acid HNO 70 % Peracetic acid CH COOOH 5 to 5 % PVDF PTFE (T) ETFE Sulphuric acid * H SO 98 % * Once the pump is stopped, calcium hydroxide will sediment rapidly * Risk of crystallisation * Strongly degassing, pump type or -FCM recommended * Reacts violently with water and generates much heat. Pump should be absolutely dry before dosing sulphuric acid Note: Some of the liquids in this table may be toxic, corrosive or hazardous. Note: Please be careful when handling these liquids.
