Instlltion kit For mounting in rk, the Model 3300/3500 instlltion kit inludes the following prts: One DIN stndrd 41612, Type D onnetor for input/output wiring, with solder tils or srew terminls (Model 3500 only) One DIN stndrd 41612, keyed Type D onnetor for sensor wiring, with solder tils or srew terminls One plug-in onnetor for power supply wiring Four (Model 3300) or six (Model 3500) slotted heese-hed mhine srews, size M2.5x8, for seuring wiring onnetors to the rk STEP 1. Choosing lotion Choose lotion for the trnsmitter bsed on the requirements desribed below. Environmentl requirements Instll the trnsmitter where mbient temperture is between 4 nd +140 F ( 20 nd +60 C). If multiple pplitions pltforms re instlled, provide t lest 1 U (1 HE) of vertil spe between rks to ensure proper ventiltion. See Figure 1. 2

Up to three enlosures fit into one rk. See Figure 1. 3

6 If you re instlling the Model 3300 pplitions peripherl in ombintion with trnsmitter, the mximum ble length from the trnsmitter s frequeny output to the Model 3300 s frequeny input is 500 feet (150 meters). 7 STEP 2. Instlling guide rils nd wiring onnetors Guide rils Positions of guide rils nd wiring onnetors re indited in Figure 5. Centers of guide rils should be 27 HP (27 TE) prt, for exmple, t 1 HP (TE) nd 28 HP (TE). Wiring onnetors The pplitions pltform is shipped with solder-til or srew-type onnetor for input/output wiring, keyed solder-til or srew-type onnetor for sensor wiring (Model 3500 only), nd plug-in onnetor for power supply wiring. Working from the front of the rk, use the supplied M2.5x8 srews to instll the wiring onnetors onto the bk of the rk s follows: 1. Use the enters of the guide rils s referene points nd refer to Figure Instll the input/output wiring onnetor t 4 HP (4 TE) from the neighboring unit or from the edge of the rk. 3. (Model 3500 only) Instll the keyed sensor wiring onnetor t 16 HP (16 TE) from the neighboring unit or from the edge of the rk. 4. Instll the power supply wiring onnetor t 25 HP (25 TE) from the neighboring unit or from the edge of the rk. 6

Instlling the Model 3300/3500 in the rk 1. Align the Model 3300/3500 with the guide rils. 2. Slide the Model 3300/3500 into the rk. Mke sure the pins on the bk pnel mke ontt with the wiring onnetors. 3. Tighten the supplied ptive srews to seure the front pnel of the Model 3300/3500 to the guide rils. 7

9 STEP 4. Mounting the ore proessor This step is required only for remote ore proessor with remote trnsmitter instlltions (see Figure 4). If you hve 4-wire remote instlltion, go to Step 5. Figure 6 shows the remote ore proessor nd mounting brket. Using the mounting brket, mount the ore proessor in lotion omptible with the ble length requirements disussed in Step 1. Figure 6. Conneting input nd output wiring Connet input nd output wiring to the pproprite terminls on the input/output wiring onnetor, whih is the fr right onnetor. Refer to Tble 2 nd to the rd tht is inserted into the sleeve on the top pnel (shown in Figure 7). Use 24 to 16 AWG (0,25 to 1,5 mm 2 ) twisted-pir shielded wire. Ground the shields t single point only. 8

Input/output wiring terminl rd STEP 6. Conneting the Model 3500 to the sensor If you re instlling the Model 3300 pplitions peripherl, this step is not required. Go to Step 7. To onnet the Model 3500 trnsmitter to Miro Motion sensor, follow the instrutions below. Instlltion options Sensor wiring depends on the instlltion onfigurtion: 4-wire remote trnsmitter (requires 4-wire ble; see Figure 3 nd Wiring instrutions for 4-wire remote instlltions) Remote ore proessor with remote trnsmitter (requires both 4-wire nd 9-wire ble; see Figure 4 nd Wiring instrutions for remote ore proessor with remote trnsmitter instlltions) 9

11 Wiring instrutions for 4-wire remote instlltions 1. Prepre the ble s desribed in the sensor doumenttion. 2. Connet the ble to the ore proessor s desribed in the sensor doumenttion. 3. To onnet the ble to the trnsmitter:. Identify the wires in the 4-wire ble. The 4-wire ble supplied by Miro Motion onsists of one pir of 18 AWG (0,75 mm 2 ) wires (red nd blk), whih should be used for the VDC onnetion, nd one pir of 22 AWG (0,35 mm 2 ) wire (green nd white), whih should be used for the RS-485 onnetion. b. Connet the four wires from the ore proessor to the pproprite terminls on the trnsmitter. See Tble 3 nd Figure 8 (stndrd ore proessor) or Figure 9 (enhned ore proessor). No bre wires should remin exposed. Do not ground the shield, brid, or drin wire(s) t the trnsmitter. Tble 3. 13 Wiring instrutions for remote ore proessor with remote trnsmitter instlltions There re two phses to this proedure: Wiring the remote ore proessor to the trnsmitter Wiring the sensor to the remote ore proessor To wire the remote ore proessor to the trnsmitter: 1. Use one of the following methods to shield the wiring: If you re instlling unshielded wiring in ontinuous metlli onduit tht provides 360 termintion shielding for the enlosed wiring, go to Step 6. If you re instlling user-supplied ble glnd with shielded ble or rmored ble, terminte the shields in the ble glnd. Terminte both the rmored brid nd the shield drin wires in the ble glnd. Go to Step 6. If you re instlling Miro Motion-supplied ble glnd t the ore proessor housing: - If you re using shielded ble, prepre the ble nd pply shielded het shrink s desribed in Step 4. The shielded het shrink provides shield termintion suitble for use in the glnd when using ble whose shield onsists of foil nd not brid. Go to Step 2. - If you re using rmored ble, prepre the ble s desribed in Step 4, but do not pply het shrink omit Steps 4d, e, f, nd g. Go to Step Identify the omponents shown in Figure 6. Remove the ore proessor lid. 3. Slide the glnd nut nd the lmping insert over the ble. 12

For onnetion t the ore proessor housing, prepre shielded ble s follows (for rmored ble, omit steps d, e, f, g):. Strip 4 1/2 inhes (114 mm) of ble jket. b. Remove the ler wrp tht is inside the ble jket, nd remove the filler mteril between the wires.. Remove the foil shield tht is round the insulted wires, leving 3/4 inh (19 mm) of foil or brid nd drin wires exposed, nd seprte the wires. d. Wrp the shield drin wire(s) round the exposed foil twie. Cut off the exess wire. Shield drin wire(s) wrpped twie round exposed shield foil e. Ple the shielded het shrink over the exposed shield drin wire(s). The tubing should ompletely over the drin wires. f. Without burning the ble, pply het (250 F or 120 C) to shrink the tubing. 13

15 Shielded het shrink ompletely overs exposed drin wires g. Position glnd lmping insert so the interior end is flush with the het shrink. h. Fold the loth shield or brid nd drin wires over the lmping insert nd pproximtely 1/8 inh (3 mm) pst the O-ring. i. Instll the glnd body into the ore proessor housing onduit opening. 5. Insert the wires through the glnd body nd ssemble the glnd by tightening the glnd nut. 6. Identify the wires in the 4-wire ble. The 4-wire ble supplied by Miro Motion onsists of one pir of 18 AWG (0,75 mm 2 ) wires (red nd blk), whih should be used for the VDC onnetion, nd one pir of 22 AWG (0,35 mm 2 ) wire (green nd white), whih should be used for the RS-485 onnetion. Connet the four wires to the numbered slots on the ore proessor. 14

Do not twist the ore proessor. 8. To onnet the ble to the trnsmitter, onnet the four wires from the ore proessor to the pproprite terminls on the trnsmitter. See Tble 3 nd Figure 8. No bre wires should remin exposed. Do not ground the shield, brid, or drin wire(s) t the trnsmitter. To wire the sensor to the remote ore proessor: CAUTION Allowing the shield drin wires to ontt the sensor juntion box n use meter errors. Do not llow the shield drin wires to ontt the sensor juntion box. 15

17 1. Refer to Miro Motion s 9-Wire Flowmeter Cble Preprtion nd Instlltion Guide for instrutions on ble shielding nd preprtion: At the sensor end, follow the instrutions for your ble type. At the ore proessor end, follow the instrutions for your ble type with n MVD trnsmitter. 2. To onnet the wires, refer to Miro Motion s 9-Wire Flowmeter Cble Preprtion nd Instlltion Guide nd follow the instrutions for your sensor with n MVD trnsmitter. Additionl informtion for onneting the wires t the ore proessor is provided below:. Identify the omponents shown in Figure 6. b. Remove the ore proessor s end-p.. Insert the 9-wire ble through the onduit opening. d. Connet the wires to the plugs supplied with the ore proessor. e. Insert the plugs into the sokets inside the lower onduit ring. See Figure 10. Ground the ble. If using jketed ble:. Ground the shield drin wires (the blk wire) only on the ore proessor end, by onneting it to the ground srew inside the lower onduit ring. Do not ground to the ore proessor s mounting srew. Do not ground the ble t the sensor juntion box. 16

18 If using shielded or rmored ble:. Ground the shield drin wires (the blk wire) only on the ore proessor end, by onneting it to the ground srew inside the lower onduit ring. Do not ground to the ore proessor s mounting srew. Do not ground the ble t the sensor juntion box. b. Ground the ble brid on both ends, by terminting it inside the ble glnds. 4. Ensure integrity of gskets, grese ll O-rings, then lose the juntion box housing nd ore proessor end-p, nd tighten ll srews. CAUTION Dmging the wires tht onnet the trnsmitter to the sensor n use mesurement error or meter filure. To redue the risk of mesurement error or meter filure, when losing the housings on the sensor nd ore proessor, mke sure tht the wires re not ught or pinhed. STEP 7. Conneting power supply wiring CAUTION Improper wiring instlltion n use devie filure or mesurement error. To void devie filure or mesurement error, do not instll power supply wiring in the sme ble try or onduit s input/output wiring. Shut off power supply before instlling the pplitions pltform. Mke sure power supply voltge mthes voltge tht is indited on power supply wiring terminls. See Figure

19 Referring to Figure 11, onnet the Model 3300/3500 to power supply s follows: 1. Use 18 to 14 AWG (0,75 to 2,5 mm 2 ) wire. 2. Ground the trnsmitter s follows: Connet the ground wire to the middle terminl. Connet the power supply ground diretly to erth ground. Keep ll ground leds s short s possible. Ensure tht ll ground wiring hs less thn 1 ohm impedne. 3. Connet wires to the upper nd lower terminls. 4. A user-supplied swith my be instlled in the power supply line. For ompline with low-voltge diretive 73/23/EEC (Europen instlltions), swith in lose proximity to the rk is required. Figure 11.
