State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota Job Description Job Title: Director, Career Resource Center and Assessment/Testing Centers Reports to: AVP, Student Services FLSA Status: Exempt Level: 214 Position Class: Job Summary: This position is responsible for directing all employment and career decision-making and testing services and activities to current students, alumni, area employers, faculty and staff in accordance with federal/state legislation and College policies/procedures. NOTE: Job descriptions and essential functions are subject to change due to advances in technology, utilization of work force, and other factors which may impact the College s need to modify position requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following listing of essential job duties indicates the general nature and level of work required in this job. This is not designed to be a comprehensive listing of all the activities, duties, or responsibilities that may be required in this job. Provides direction to the Career Resource Center (CRC) and Assessment/Testing Center (ATC) services for all SCF Campuses. 2. Develop, implements, and directs all employment and career decision making activities relating to two and four year degree-seeking students. 3. Establishes appropriate guidelines for all on and off-campus employment recruiting, interviewing, hiring and discipline. 4. Develops, implements and maintains all College student employment and testing rules, policies, and procedures. 5. Adheres to and articulates College, State and Federal policies and procedures to students, staff, faculty and high school administrators. 6. Coordinates the collection and maintenance of data and develops all required reports for the Career and Assessment/Testing Centers. Job Description, 11/2013 Page 1 of 5

7. Prepares and monitors the annual CRC and ATC goals in conjunction with College and departmental goals. Directs all relevant activities in order to successfully accomplish annual goals. 8. Develops and maintains the annual $120,000 CRC/ATC budget to maximize the utilization of available resources. 9. Researches, purchases, maintains, and evaluates a variety of programs and services in order to provide current and comprehensive resources to students, alumni, faculty, staff and area employers. 10. Represents the CRC and ATC Student Services and State College of Florida at on and off campus meetings, events and committees. 11. Ensures that all required Financial Aid, Payroll, Human Resources and Career Resource Center documents are collected and maintained according to College, State, Federal employment regulations. 12. Prepares and presents informational presentations/workshops for SCF students, staff, faculty and school district personnel. 13. Hires, supervises, evaluates and coaches Career Resource Center and Assessment Testing Center Staff. 14. Serves as the Colleges Institutional Test Administrator and performs all related tasks on behalf of SCF. 15. Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor. Education/Experience: Master s degree from four-year college or university and three to five years related experience. Experience in higher educational leadership is preferred. Supervisory Experience: Three or more years of direct supervisory experience, including responsibility for hiring, Firing, performance management, training and coaching is required. Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to technical questions and/or complaints from College leadership, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the community. Ability to write detailed reports, business correspondence, and policy and procedure manuals. Math Ability: Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to solve practical problems, and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram/chart, or schedule form. Computer Skills: The employee must have working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, Internet and College testing and career databases, and email software. Certificates and Licenses: None required. Responsibility for People and Property: This position is responsible for the supervision of division staff that encompasses the Career Resource Centers and the Assessment/Testing Centers personnel. This position develops and administers the departmental budget for the Career Resource Centers and the Assessment/Testing Centers and is responsible for four dedicated computer labs. Responsibility for Communication: Internal Contacts: This position has routine contact with SCF students, and all levels of administration, faculty and staff. External Contacts: This position has routine contact with area employers, school district administration and teachers, and the general public. This position hasfrequent contact with College alumni and community organizations.
